Title: New Commandment
The age we live in today is the age of thirst for true love. I'm crying out to you to love me But true love is hard to find.
This text is a new commandment that the Lord gave to his beloved disciples just before he left this earth.
I. The new commandment is to love one another.
At the last meeting, the Lord told His disciples to love. What do you need most in a world full of problems, persecutions and difficulties? It is true love. As long as there is true love, we can overcome all trials in this world, so the Lord said to us when he left this world. The power of true love is great.
How can true love begin? If we love each other, we can overcome any difficulties. The Lord said to His disciples, “Love one another” (verse 34). This doesn't mean that you shouldn't love others. To show that true love begins with love for each other. It is easy to say that you love the whole world, but it is not easy to love the one person you hate. That is why the Lord gave us a new commandment to show that great love for one another.
It's easy to say I love you, but it's not easy to actually love me. That is why we need to strive to love one another and seek the Lord's help. “Children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and truth” (1 John 3:18).
We bless each other by demonstrating and affirming the love we have received from the Lord.
II. Loving one another is a sign of followers of Jesus.
There are many people who believe in Jesus. But few people follow Jesus properly. A disciple is someone who does not end with believing in Jesus, but actually follows the Lord and wants to live his word. The Lord said: “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (verse 35). Commandments are not something you can keep or not keep. The commandments are the Lord's commands that those who truly love the Lord must keep. It's easy to love someone you love. But it's hard to love someone you can't even love. But loving those who do not deserve to be loved, even those who do not want to be loved, is the mark of those who follow Jesus.
The Lord demonstrated God's love to us by shed His blood on the cross for us who do not deserve it. The reason the Lord first loved and saved us, who have no qualifications, is so that we can love the soul the Lord loves. This is what a disciple of Christ does.
The Lord wants us to care for one soul that has been abandoned, one soul that no one cares about.
Let us first show the love of Jesus in our homes, in our churches, and around us to a soul who is marginalized and in need of Jesus.
What people need most in this day and age is true love. He first called us to live by revealing it. Let us live by revealing to each other the love we received first from the Lord. And let's expand that scope more and more. For that reason, each of us is there, and there is our church.
