Title: New Commandment: Brotherly Love
Content br> "I give you a new commandment, love one another. Love one another as I have loved you. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. (John 13:33-34) )
If the old commandment is the Ten Commandments, the new commandment is brotherly love.
We can learn from the Bible the teaching about brotherly love as follows:
First, what kind of person loves a brother?
1. Those who love a brother are those who know Jesus, that is, those who have experienced Jesus. Those who believed in Jesus. (1 John 2:3)
2. Those who love their brothers are those who live in the light and do not hesitate. (1 John 2:10)
3. The one who loves his brother is the one who has passed from death and entered into life. (1 John 3:14 before)
4. Those who love brothers are those who have been born of God and who know God. (1 John 4:7)
5. Those who love brothers are those who love God (1 John 4:21).
Who hates the second brother?
1. He is a liar and the truth is not in him. (1 John 2:4)
2. A person who lives in darkness and does not know where to go. (1 John. 2:9, 11.)
3. Those who do not belong to God. (1 John 3:10)
4. A person who is living in death. (1 John 3:14)
5. A murderer who does not have eternal life in him. (1 John 3:15)
6. People who do not know God. (1 John 4:8)
Third, the method of brotherly love taught in the Bible
1. We must love each other. (John 13:13-14)
2. We must love until we lay down our lives. (1 John 3:16-17)
3. We must love with action and truth. (1 John 3:18)
4. We must love in the Triune God. (1 John 1:3,4:13)
Fourth, why should a person who is saved love his brother?
1. Because God loved us. (1 John 4:11)
2. Because we love God. (1 John 4:21)
3. Because God has commanded us to love. (1 John 4:21)
Fifth, the result of brotherly love
1. Unbelievers will know that we are truly Jesus’ disciples (John 13:34).
2. God dwells in the brothers (church), and God's love is fully realized in them (1 John 4:12).
The world we live in is a cold world where love grows colder as lawlessness grows.
The more we are saved, the more we must obey the teachings of the Word and love each other until Jesus comes again and embraces us in His arms.
