Title: No false witness (Ex 20:16)
Contents
We live in an age of dishonesty. To lie means to voluntarily say something that is not true with the intent to deceive or harm. The ninth commandment deals with the transgression of language against man. The crime of lying is a crime that comes from the depths of the human heart. Jesus called the devil “the father of lies”. God hates the sin of lying (Proverbs 6:16). The Bible says that this liar leads to a lake burning with fire and brimstone, that is, the second death (Revelation 21:8).
I hope that we will think about the damage that lies will inflict on us, think together about the best way to overcome the lies, and listen to God's small voice for us.
1. Lies lead mankind on the road to destruction. - Lies ruin me.
We live in a culture of lies. The reality is that in almost all areas of our society, falsehood is never approached as a sin.
If the physical sin is violence, most of the sins committed with the lips are lies or false witness. If violent sin is bodily harm, the sin of false witness inflicts psychological damage and scars. A false sin committed before God is a confession of faith that distorts God's will or does not act.
He tells the saints who live on this earth to throw away even the appearance of lies. Lies are the thing God hates the most, because Satan created them. Misfortune, strife, and resentment on this earth start with lies. The ultimate purpose of Satan's lies to us is to destroy us.
Regarding the various forms of evil lies, the Bible speaks of slander, gossip, vain boasting, gossip, accusation, perjury, exaggeration, gossip and slander, and spreading gossip, destructive criticism. Distortion of truth, distortion of words, baseless rumors or malicious comments are mentioned in the form of lies.
2. A lie can only be restored in front of the mirror of truth.
The end of lies lies in judgment. Liars are those who do not believe in God and do not acknowledge the cross of Jesus Christ. Unbelief is not only false witness to oneself, but also false witness to others, and ultimately lies before God. God is not pleased with the lies or false witnesses that we easily carry out in our daily life. Making junk food, deceiving the right amount, and false evidence that destroys the honesty of our neighbors eventually destroy the beautiful church community and society due to mutual distrust between us and our neighbors.
What is the message of the ninth commandment that God gave to the people of Israel? Don't come close to lies. Christians should live their lives differently from the worldly people. You have to be honest, be conscious of God, and put the happiness of your neighbors first.
The way to be free from lies is to reflect your life in front of the mirror of truth every day. What is the mirror of truth? It is the word of God. We must remove our sins and faults by reflecting ourselves in front of God's mirror of truth every day. And for a holy life, we must live a life of thorough obedience to the Word. Satan's best strategy to destroy the church has long been this lie, slander, slander and gossip. Truth builds up the church, but lies destroy the church.
3. Speak the truth (truth) in your life
To speak the truth and to choose the truth is good for me and good for my neighbor. Truth and speaking truth can sometimes seem difficult, painful, and costly, but every time we speak the truth and choose the truth, we will experience that it is love. Lies sever our relationship with God and have whispered lies into the souls and hearts of God's children. For example, lying to impress others, adding a little lie to your resume or cover letter, exaggerating past achievements, or lying because of lust, revenge, or resentment. They make up stories that don't exist to undermine someone, and they lie and make excuses to gain a profit. You lie to get out of trouble, and you lie to the police because you are afraid of punishment, so you don't get a traffic ticket. Examples of falsehood can be seen in the image of students making false excuses for not returning home on time and making excuses for not submitting homework on time.
We should be honest as we seek help from the Holy Spirit every hour. You must stop lying. We are so insensitive to lies. God's response to lies is death, destruction and death. The Lord has promised to bless the one who overcomes in the linguistic life, who speaks the truth and keeps no lies from his mouth (Proverbs 12:22). The end of lies is loss and death, but the end of truth is peace and life. “But speak the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15a).
The secret to victory is to avoid the place of lies, cultivate the discipline to speak the truth in love, and speak words that the Lord is not ashamed to hear. And pray for a watchman on my tongue.
