Title: Now I Know/Exodus 18:6-12

Content Now I know / Exodus 18:6-12

Key Verse: “Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods, and he has overcome those who behaved proudly toward Israel” (Exodus 18:11).

Word: Moses and Zipporah must have missed each other. I'd love to see my sons too. They hug each other and rejoice. “He suffered because of his father-in-law and his wife and children. get me Thank you!” “No, man, what hardship is suffering! We had a good time without any problems. I've always been worried about you. I am so happy to see you so healthy!”

According to Exodus 2:16, Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, was a priest of Midian. He was not a priest who served Jehovah. Moses' father-in-law had already heard of what had happened to the Israelites led by his son-in-law (18:1). Now, however, he listens directly to Moses. As we talk about this and that with joy, Moses tells the story of the past to his father-in-law in detail.

“Hey, let me tell you in detail what happened. When you went to Egypt, didn't you just go out of curiosity about the safety of your family and people? But I didn't know that I would lead the whole nation like this. What happened?” Moses spoke of ‘everything’. And now something important happens. When Jethro heard everything, he rejoiced and praised God and confessed this.

“Now I know. Jehovah is greater than all gods!”

Knowing who God is a very important topic in the Exodus event. Pharaoh said proudly. “Who is Yahweh? I do not know the Lord” (5:2). Pharaoh and the Egyptians later knew deeply who God was. The Israelites also came to know who God was. And now even the father-in-law, the priest of another god, knew God. Perhaps they believed in God.

When God's power and work are revealed in the Christian's life, people around them will come to know God and further believe in God. We must give our family life to God so that God can intervene and show His power. Who has come to know God through me so far? Not much? No, no one? Rather than allowing others to know God through me, has God's light been hidden? God wants us to be His precious servants.

Prayer: Lord, help others to know you through my life. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
