Title: Now is the time to pray.
Contents
Prayer is the spiritual breath of Christians and is an essential element in our Christian life. Many people pray and pray toward idols, but only the prayer to God the Creator is the only prayer that is answered and is a living prayer. Verse 9 says, “The Lord has heard my supplication; the Lord will answer my prayer.” David, the great servant of God, sings and confesses that Jehovah God is the only object and answer to prayer. Now, with these facts in mind, let us ponder the importance of prayer.
Why should you put effort into prayer?
Because we can confess our sins and receive forgiveness through prayer. A sinful life cannot have peace or joy in its heart and receive God's blessings until it is forgiven. Isaiah 48:22 says, “There is no peace with the wicked, says the Lord.” Therefore, whenever we commit a sin, we must go to the closet of prayer, repent and confess to God for forgiveness. Psalm 66:18 says, “If I harbor iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” The most powerful way to solve all problems is to completely turn away from sin.
It is because we can overcome trials and trials through prayer.
There are many kinds of trials and trials in the life of the saints on earth, and they are actually encountered. However, even if the saints who pray are faced with trials and trials, they can overcome them with the power and grace that God gives them. Joshua, who tolerated the Gibeonites without prayer, made a mistake, and Peter, who was dozing off without prayer, made the mistake of denying that he did not know Jesus three times. Luke 22:46 says, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray, so that you may not fall into temptation.”
Because prayer gives power to the life of the saints.
The Bible says that the believers' life of faith is a life of battle in which they fight the good fight with evil spirits. In order to win in this spiritual battle, we must acquire power, and this power is given to those who pray. Just as a hydroelectric power plant uses the power generated by the fall of water to produce electricity, prayer is a channel to draw out the power of God using the fall from heaven to the earth. Therefore, the believers who pray have power and lead a victorious life, but the life of faith of those who do not pray inevitably becomes powerless.
prayer for the church
There is a church on this earth that was bought with the price of Jesus' blood, and this church is a group of believers who have been atoned for by the blood of the Lord. This church is the object of God's ultimate love and blessing. Therefore, this church is a most glorified community. As long as such a church exists on the earth, it must continue to revive and develop. However, one essential element for the revival and development of this church is prayer. A church that prays is revived, but a church that doesn't pray is powerless and has no choice but to stagnate or decline.
The early church in Acts was a powerful church and a revival church. However, behind this revival of the early church was the earnest and constant prayers of the saints. Acts 1:14 says, “They devoted themselves to prayer together with the women, Mary the mother of Jesus, and the brothers of Jesus.” Indifference degenerates everything. The Korean church is in crisis right now. There is no way we can get through this crisis without praying.
prayer for the country
A true believer must pray for the country and people. Christianity is a patriotic religion. The Bible instructs all believers to love their country and people, and true believers should pray for their country and people. How many times have the people prayed for their country these days ahead of the election season?
In Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, there is a statue of a famous martyr named ‘Anhus’, who is called the father of the Reformation. He was burned at the stake by the Pope for uttering a conscience based on the Holy Spirit. There are four words engraved on the bottom of the statue: ① I learned sincerity ② I lived faithfully ③ I loved my sincerity ④ I kept my sincerity. What he said, what he thought, his faith, his life, and his personality were all sincere. It is said in the Analects that nothing is possible without sincerity.
It is sad to see the reality of our country right now. 1 Timothy 2:2 says, “Pray for rulers and those in high positions.” An earnest and earnest prayer for the country will enable us to expect a good country, good leaders, and good people in God's blessing and grace. And furthermore, we can build a hopeful nation of light that stands firm on the foundation of the gospel of God. Hopefully, at this time when everything is revived anew through a life of faith that is devoted to prayer, we hope that you will use it as an opportunity to grow our faith once again.
