Title: Obedience
Contents
Text: Luke 5:1-11
In today's verse, Peter obeyed Jesus' words, "Go into the deep and cast your net" and cast your net. The net of obedience contained 153 fish that had disappeared overnight. A life of faith is obedience and blessing. If obedience is the root, then blessings are fruits. Just as a tree without good roots cannot bear good fruit, so a life of faith without obedience cannot enjoy the fruit of blessing. Obedience is not based on one's knowledge, common sense, and claims, but rather living according to the Word of God. Good faith means obedience, and disobedience means bad faith. Blessed be the saints who enjoy God's approval, love, and blessings through obedience.
People interpret situations at will depending on where they are placed. So is our faith. If you become the standard and think only from your own point of view, you will not be able to find the correct answer to the problem. There is a correct answer to the life of faith when we change our standards to those of Jesus.
Today's text is about going beyond my own standards and changing them to the standards of Jesus. Peter, a fisherman by profession, threw his nets all night long to catch fish, but failed to catch a single fish, and while he was arranging his nets exhausted and exhausted, Jesus came. Then he said, “Cast your nets” again. In Peter's experience, this doesn't make sense. It was because the time was coming when the fish that were caught were no longer being caught. But to cast the net again is reckless and foolish. It doesn't really make sense. However, it does not make sense in the human mind, but it makes sense if it comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Let's make a confession of faith together.
"obedience! Obedience makes the impossible possible. Obedience is turning life into a blessing.”
I bless you that you have good faith and good faith as well as servants of the Lord.
Judging from today's Word, when does Jesus work, work, and give blessings?
1. Jesus blesses me when I give up my human strength (verse 2).
“When they got out of the boat, they washed their nets” (verse 2). When I try to do it on my own, the Lord is watching. “I have no will to give, so I’m raising my hand. When you give up on yourself with the heart of “Lord, if you treat me badly, where will I go?” When you give up your strength, knowledge, and ingenuity, Jesus comes to you. When Peter gave up and washed his nets, he said, “Yes, I have to meddle, I have to work.” He came to Peter.
2. Even if it is mine, when Jesus takes it and uses it, it works and works (verse 3).
“Jesus got into a boat, which was Simon’s” (verse 3). Jesus didn't just bless him to catch fish, he got into Peter's boat. The Lord wants us to use ours before He gives us grace and blessings. Before receiving the blessing, Jacob offered him a delicacy. Abraham also offered Isaac and was blessed. We are just stewards. Do not claim that it is mine, but give it into the hands of the Lord so that it can be used more preciously and preciously.
3. After getting into the boat, Jesus started preaching (verse 3).
“He taught the multitudes…” (verse 3). If you can't catch a fish and get on the boat, you have to catch the fish first and preach. Jesus preached first. In Luke 10:38-42, when Jesus went to the house of Lazarus, Martha was busy preparing food, but her sister Mary was sitting at Jesus' feet and listening to Jesus' words. My sister Martha said, “Jesus! Ask my sister Maria to help me.” No wonder. But what did Jesus say? “Martha, are you anxious and anxious to have a lot, if only a few things or even just one is enough? Mary, your sister has chosen the good side.” It is yearning to hear the word.
Dear members of Shepherd Church,
It's better to come to church and listen to God's word than to go to a niece's wedding on a Sunday, than to a friend's wedding, or to play golf after making a reservation for a field. Obedience has history, changes, blessings, and grace.
“I will choose the good side of my life!” I hope you have a victorious week with the confession “I will live obediently all my life.” Hallelujah! Amen!!
