obesity and diet
Text: 2 Peter 1:5- 7
“Therefore, be more diligent, supplying to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.”
A woman deacon in a church started gaining weight. No matter how hard you try to limit your food, it doesn't work. I continued to open the refrigerator door and find something to eat. I couldn't sleep and thought about it, but I knelt down and prayed to God. Then God gave me a wonderful diet idea. I put a picture of an actress with a very slim Small-s line body in the refrigerator. The moment I opened the refrigerator door to eat, I looked at the slim woman and said:
“I need to be that thin too…”
I made up my mind and closed the refrigerator door again, clenched my teeth and endured it. As a result, I lost 5 kg of weight in one month. I was so excited. But something strange happened.
In one month, my husband's weight increased by 5 kg. Why? My husband was fascinated by the body of an S-line woman stuck in the refrigerator. So, as I often opened the refrigerator door and picked up food, my husband became obese.
The word 'diet' is on the top of the Internet search box. Hwang Shin-hye diet, healthy diet, Danish diet, grape diet.... Losing weight is almost war level. As a side effect of the diet, it is now rather malnutrition and even death. I'm really trying to lose weight by dying.
If your body is getting heavier, it means that you have a lot of useless lumps in your body. A mass of flesh in the body, a mass of worries and stress in the mind...
The more you live with that mass in your body, the heavier it gets and you lose or miss a lot. Sometimes dieting or fasting is necessary. The feeling of lightening body and mind, the feeling of happiness, and that confidence are unparalleled.
Obesity and overnutrition can easily lead to various diseases. Few people know that obesity is harmful. Obesity refers to a condition in which the proportion of adipose tissue is higher than that of a normal person, and in Oriental medicine, it corresponds to non-hypothyroidism. Obesity is considered when body fat is more than 20% of body weight in men and more than 30% in women. In particular, epigastric obesity is a cause of adult disease and death, and the waist circumference is usually 94 cm for men and 80 cm or more for women.
The causes of obesity are divided into extrinsic and intrinsic. Exogenous fat is stagnant due to overeating and lack of exercise due to overnutrition. More than 90% of obesity is simple obesity caused by overeating and lack of exercise. Intrinsic is the result of a decrease in the ability to break down fat. Obesity causes hypertension, arteriosclerosis, stroke, myocardial infarction, diabetes, gout, pancreatitis, fatty liver, knee arthritis, menstrual irregularity, infertility, skin disease, breast cancer, colon cancer, depression, etc.
How old can humans live? Recently, foreign media cited the words of experts including George Ross, a researcher at the American Aging Research Institute, and reported that small meals and abstinence are the keys to longevity, and if you practice them well, you can live up to 170 years old.
The substances that cause the gradual deterioration of physical condition and aging are so-called free radicals, such as oxygen atoms, and the way to reduce the generation of these free radicals is news and abstinence.
“When you find honey, eat as much as you can, lest you vomit because you overeat” (Proverbs 25:16).
'The person who lost 60 kilograms through exercise and became the best model.' I saw the article. The main character of this article has brought great confidence above all else through the success of the diet. So he said this.
“I was no longer afraid. It seemed that even Taesan could be moved.”
A diet is not necessarily a good thing. However, the confidence and courage gained from one successful diet made him a world-class model and made him the CEO. When you start something, try to finish it.
As a treatment for obesity, oriental medicine focuses on controlling wetness, and depending on the symptoms, medications or methods to suppress appetite are used. Diet is the most important, and low-calorie, high-nutrition foods are recommended. We recommend 2 meals a day or 2.5 meals a day. Exercise therapy is also important, but strenuous exercise should be avoided. As for herbal tea, it is called Gyeongsin tea, so it is recommended to drink 1 sapju root (baekchul) adulmu with 1/3 of the amount of gold decoction. Also, regular prayer and praise make the body healthy.
The first habit we should learn is the habit of maintaining a moderate weight. Our present and future are the result of our choices and decisions. Weight is really a matter of choice. No one can eat for you except yourself. Obesity strikes people who have lost the ability to control themselves in front of food.
Since the Lunar New Year is over, how about paying special attention to weight management? Obesity is not bad, but being too skinny and underweight is also a problem. A proper weight is the basis of health management and the core of self-management. There is one top secret to success in weight management.
'Eat less and move more!'
My younger brother, who decided to go on a diet, read various diet books and read that the grape diet is good for the body and beauty, and started the grape diet. Grape diet is to lose weight by eating only grapes instead of rice. But on the third day, the younger brother suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed. My family and I were so surprised that we took them to the hospital, and after seeing the doctor, my mother carefully asked the doctor.
"I, sir, are you malnourished?"
Then the doctor's answer is ridiculous.
"Pesticide poisoning."
In today's society, regardless of appearance and ability, even a well-balanced and strong body is competitive. These days, when many people are concerned about health and calories, and paying great attention to ingredients and eating habits, a British food columnist is a topic of discussion with contradictory claims. The secret to not gaining weight among Chinese people who eat oily foods is a book he wrote, "Why Don't Chinese People Count Calories?"
(1) Stop counting calories.
(2) Eat slowly until you are full.
(3) Eat soup dishes.
Many of these arguments are contrary to common sense. If you think of food as calories, it looks like a piece of flesh, so you get rid of pressure by consuming food and eat until you are full, but eat slowly and release your hands as soon as you are full. In addition, it was explained that soup dishes, which are known to interfere with digestion, harmonize yin and yang and help with hydration.
There is a saying that if you eat with thanksgiving, nothing is to be thrown away. Food can be good or bad for me, depending on how we look at it. Our lives will be enriched if we accept them with a positive mind and heart that, along with proper self-care, everything in our lives is helpful. Take a look at the diet common sense I know or not.
A healthy life can be maintained when you have a rhythm in your life with regular eating habits, sleep, work, and exercise.
Is there a word that is as familiar as 'diet' to modern people whose appearance is competitive and that they want to avoid? When you open newspapers and magazines, a strange diet fills the pages and attracts people's attention.
Gwen Shamblin coined the term 'The Bible Diet' in his book Rise Above. It has been clinically proven to be effective and has become a sensation in Canada.
The basic message is that people try to fill their spiritual hunger with food. It is said that the fundamental reason why modern people are obsessed with eating too much is because of an empty mind. Therefore, exercise or diet control is only a temporary treatment for symptoms. You have to control the desire to eat itself. If you appease the hunger of your soul with the word of God first, you will naturally refrain from eating. That is why we properly suggest the words to read before serving food.
As children of God, we must eat the ‘bread of the Word’ for our souls. Besides, going on a diet isn't just one stone or two! Let's look at the health of both spirit and body through the Word and prayer every day from today.
The Bible says
“Give thanks to him who gives food to all flesh, for his lovingkindness endures forever” (Psalm 136:25).
“After fasting forty days and forty days, he became hungry” (Matthew 4:2).
“Whoever honors the day honors the Lord, and whoever eats eats for the Lord, giving thanks to God; and he who does not eat does not eat for the Lord’s sake, giving thanks to God” (Romans 14:6).
“But speak what is in conformity with sound doctrine, that the old men should be temperate, godly, sober, complete in faith, love, and perseverance” (Titus 2: 1, 2).
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law” (Galatians 5:22, 23).
On a sunny autumn day, a farmer weave chunks of ripe corn and hangs it on a branch. A squirrel hid and watched the scene. Then, every day, avoiding the farmer's eyes, he climbed up to the branches hanging from the corn and ate the corn until his stomach exploded. A few days later, the farmer found a dead squirrel that had fallen under a tree. It was that he stumbled down the stairs with his body, which had become sluggish from eating too much.
Like this squirrel, we too often fail because we can't control ourselves.
Overeating is said to cause major damage to the intestinal or gastric mucosa. A good way to clean your intestines is to eat small meals. When your intestines are cleansed with news, your immunity will increase. Our lives also need 'temperance'. Temperance makes our body and mind healthy and also cleanses our soul.
Temperance is physical godliness. It is to preserve the divine command in the flesh. On the other hand, luxury, vanity, and waste are great sins. Therefore, we Christians should live a life of moderation so that we can show the world the image of a frugal and clean life.
* Prayer: As you said, O faithful Lord, you are to supply faith with virtue thanks to knowledge, knowledge with temperance, temperance with perseverance, perseverance with brotherly kindness, and brotherly kindness with love. Especially give us a temperate heart. May the Holy Spirit assert us to be temperate in all our lives. Help us to put aside our excessive greed for food and material things and to be temperate. Give thanks for everything you need in life. Even though we work hard and sweat, let me know that all the material things that come to me belong to you, so give me wisdom to use the material you have given me for good, according to your will. Let us cast away our selfishness and lead an altruistic life, and let us live a humble and frugal life like you. Heal our people's disease of luxury and make them a people who are frugal and respect God. We pray in the name of Jesus, who is the way, the truth, and the life. Amen.
* Meditation:
0 Feel gratitude and joy every time you eat any food.
0 The less you eat and drink, the clearer your brain and the colder your blood. It brings great benefit to nature and work. (William Penn)
