Title: Obey the Holy Spirit
Contents
The Holy Spirit is God who is the Trinity of the Triune God.
God the Father has existed from eternity and created the heavens and the earth with the word.
Jesus, the Son of God, came as the Messiah in this world as the Word in the flesh.
The Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit of God who came to us as a temple as promised. The primary purpose of the coming of the Holy Spirit is to defend Jesus, and the secondary purpose is to protect the saints who have been witnesses of Jesus. That's why 1 Corinthians 12:7 says, "The manifestation of the Holy Spirit is given to each one for profit."
Obedience to the Holy Spirit, who came to benefit the believers in Jesus according to the promise of Jesus who came to save us, is the secret of victory in the life of faith.
To obey the Holy Spirit
First, we must not quench the Holy Spirit.
The wish of Jesus is that believers who believe will receive the Holy Spirit. Evangelism is precious (Acts 1:8), resurrection is precious (John 20:20), and church office is precious (Acts 6), but before that, you must receive the Holy Spirit. That's why Paul said in Ephesians 5:18, "But be filled with the Holy Spirit." This means that we can obey the Holy Spirit only when we are filled with the Holy Spirit.
But the problem of many saints is
① It is because we cannot receive the filling of the Holy Spirit. And sometimes by longing for the Holy Spirit
② Even if we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we cannot maintain it and perish.
The reason is the greed for waiting, the blood (nature) and laziness of faith. As a result, my will and my judgment take precedence. Therefore, we must live God-centered, church-centered, and Word-centered. So, we need to recharge the filling of the Holy Spirit, which is being consumed, and maintain the state of being filled.
Second, we must not oppose the Holy Spirit.
In Galatians 5:17, “the lust of the flesh is against the Holy Spirit”, the lusts of the flesh are, according to verse 19, fornication, uncleanness, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife and envy, wrath, sectarianism, heresy. , drunkenness, debauchery, and the like. In other words, it is a humanistic, human-centered life.
In Acts 7:51, deacon Stephen said, "You always resist the Holy Spirit and act like your fathers. You cursed and killed the prophets who prophesied that the Messiah would come. When the Messiah Jesus came, you crucified him and put him to death." .
What we can see here is that if you go against the Holy Spirit,
① We follow the twisted paths of our ancestors.
② They curse your servants and even cause them to die.
③ They say that they believe in God and forsake Jesus.
Third, we must not blaspheme the Holy Spirit (Luke 12:10; Mark 3:29).
In Matthew 12:22 and below, there is an incident where Jesus cast out unclean spirits and healed the sick. Regarding this, in verse 24, the Pharisees criticize Jesus for being a demon. If you look at what Jesus said
① Demons are cast out by the Holy Spirit
② He said that slandering, criticizing, and gossiping about the Blessed Ministry is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and cannot be forgiven.
There are several sins that God cannot forgive.
① It is the sin of not believing in Jesus. This means that even God has no basis for forgiveness.
② Because there is no opportunity to be forgiven for the sin of taking one's own life.
③ It is a sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit, and even those who have been saved by believing in Jesus will inevitably receive the corresponding retribution (rebuke).
Therefore, we believe that Jesus is empowered by the Holy Spirit.
