"The servant in charge of the mystery of God"
'Dan 2: 17 ~ 22 (31 ~ 35)'
1. The servant in charge of the mystery of God (1 ~ 19)
King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream and commanded all the appraisers, sorcerers, shopkeepers, and magicians of Babylon to give their dreams and interpretations. When the dream and interpretation could not be shared, the king ordered everyone to be killed. The crisis of death also came to Daniel and his three friends.
1) Daniel calmly asked for a deadline (14-16)
2) Daniel asked his three friends to pray earnestly (17-18)
3) Daniel (19) in charge of God's secret
God entrusted his secret to Daniel, the man of faith, to reveal it. Paul taught those who devote themselves to preaching the gospel with themselves (1 Corinthians 4:1), saying, 'Consider us as servants of Christ and entrusters of the mystery of God. The mystery refers to God's mysterious plan to save mankind through the gospel of Jesus. (Colossians 1:27) This mystery is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Let us also pray Daniel's prayer. Make me a servant in charge of the secrets of God. Help me to become a partner in God's work of salvation!
Andr gide, a great French writer who was a Puritan believer, said, "If patriotism has different meanings on one side and the other across the Pyrenees, it cannot be true patriotism." Spain lies to the left of the Pyrenees and France to the right. A patriotism in which a Spanish patriot and hero becomes an aggressor to France and a French hero becomes a conqueror to the Spaniards is not the patriotism a Christian seeks. Let's become the servants in charge of God's secret to serve world history with the gospel, which is God's secret that saves us and others.
2. God, the Lord of history (20 ~ 23)
When God entrusted his secrets, he gave them as an answer to his earnest prayer, as he only had faith to decide. Daniel was so grateful that he wrote a poem and sang it. This song is also the confession of faith that forms the center of the book of Daniel.
1) He is the one who changes the times and deadlines of God.
2) God is the one who abolishes and establishes kings.
3) God is the One who gives wisdom to the wise and understanding to the intelligent.
4) God is the revealer of deep and secret things.
5) God is the one with the light (the hope of mankind is in God).
A Christian is a servant who is entrusted with the secrets of God and has a clear and correct view of history. There are two main views of the history of the world. The humanistic view of Hellenism and the other is a neo-capitalist view of Hebraism. The biblical view is a neo-capitalist view that the subject of history is God. History is seen as His story. Understanding and interpreting all history from God's point of view. Although Daniel was living in captivity in the land of conquerors, he had a good influence on the kings in the royal palace with a strong belief that God is the master of history. Let's become God's tools to serve the country and the world with a clear view of life that God is the master of our lives and the history of the country.
3. Let's live as God's people (44 ~ 45)
The image that the king saw was that the head of the idol was of pure gold, the breast and arms of silver, the belly and thighs of bronze, their calves of iron, and their feet partly iron and partly clay (32-33).
The idol was poured out to represent the future history (Babylon = Persia = Greece = Rome). The important thing is that the stone was cut from the mountain, not by human hands, to break the idol, not simply to reveal the history of the nation.
The stone cut out here is the Messiah, Jesus Christ. (Isa 28:16) Behold, I prophesied that I laid a stone as a foundation in Zion, and the Lord also quoted from the Old Testament (Matthew 21:42) and the stone rejected by the builders (crucifixion) was the cornerstone (foundation of salvation). ), and this is the work that God directly performed.
1) The cut stone broke the idol.
The idol had golden hair. We are all lusted for and tempted by material things, silver refers to the chest and arms to seize luxury and pleasure by pointing to the splendid ornaments at the time, and brass is a solid material that makes living appliances like plastic these days, the desire and temptation to pursue realism and convenience. The belly and thighs are iron, and iron is the temptation of strength and power. What can overcome the four great temptations of man You can win when it becomes a foundation stone with the power of a small stone.
2) The whole world was filled with stones that had struck down idols (35). (Missionary)
3) A kingdom established by the God of heaven will stand forever.
As the people of Christ's kingdom, the nation that was established after defeating and destroying all the kingdoms of the world, let us also live as world overcomers in Christ (John 16:33).
The true way to love the country is to live as the people of the Kingdom of Christ established by the God of heaven, conquering idols and the world, with the sense of duty as a servant in charge of God's secrets and the historical view that God is the master of history.
