Title: On Our Side
Title: On Our Side (Psalm 124:1-8)
In a Christian newspaper evangelism message, Hemingway's <Snows of Kilimanjaro>, a product of a 1935 African hunting trip, is a day just before the novelist Harry, who is reminiscent of the author himself, contracted necrosis and died on the African highlands overlooking the snow piled up on the summit of Kilimanjaro. It is a work depicting
The protagonist, who married a wealthy woman, fell ill while on a safari trip with his wife. His legs were gradually paralyzed by the germs that spread throughout his body, and he died little by little under the beautiful mountain of Kilimanjaro. The eagles in a circle awaiting his death, lying on the bed in the room, waiting for him to die, holding his last breath, the protagonist briefly recalls his past. He realizes that this was in vain, and his passion and desire are gradually exhausted and he regrets it as he personally experiences that only the dark hour is approaching. What we can see here is that only the main character in the novel has a life-limited life, but virtually all human beings living in life have a time-limited life. It's life, because one day you'll have to leave the world after a picnic.
So, how meaningless would life be if God did not establish a relationship with our Father?
So, in the text here, 1 Israel now says, What would we have done if the Lord had not been on our side?
I am moved by the event of salvation, and I am repeating the work at that time and reciting poetry.
If the Lord had not been on our side during our tribulation, we would have already been sunk.
1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober and watchful, your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” Because the devil is always trying to overthrow us. Therefore, if God were not on our side, we would have sunk already.
But God is on our side and helps us with His Word.
Romans 5:3 But not only this, but we also rejoice in our tribulation, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance, 4 endurance, and character, hope.
James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you face trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the trial of your faith produces patience.
Please continue to listen to David's confession.
2 “If the LORD had not been on our side when men rose up against us, 3 then their anger would have been fierce with us and devoured us alive.” say
4 Then it will be said that the waters will sweep us away, and streams will swallow up our souls, 5 then will the overflowing waters swallow up our souls.
This is because when the Israelites crossed the Red Sea in pursuit of Pharaoh, the waters were split and when they crossed like dry ground, Israel protected them and annihilated Pharaoh's army in the water. (Praise of Moses Exodus 15:1-18)
From verse 6, we praise God who is on our side and helps us.
6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath delivered us so that their teeth may not be gnawed. 7 Our souls are like birds from the hunter's snare; the snare is broken, and we have escaped.
In the midst of extreme hardship, God is on our side, and we are praising God who has kept their teeth from being chewed and freed us from the hunter's snare. Gospel Song 2575 O our souls are freed
We hope that the precious work of praising God who is on our side will come.
And in conclusion, verse 8 clearly declares that the source of help is in the name of God.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Our help is in the name of Jehovah.
The stranger is of no help.
Elijah's miracle on Mount Carmel proves that our help is entirely in the name of Jehovah.
to Ahab, who followed Baal. 1 Kings 18:19 Send therefore therefore all Israel, and the prophets of Baal, four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of Asherah, four hundred and fifty, who ate at Jezebel's table, to come to me on Mount Carmel. 22 Elijah said to the people, "I am the only prophet of the LORD left. The prophets of Baal are four hundred and fifty. 23 So let us bring two calves, and they shall take a calf, and cut it into pieces and put it on a tree, and put it on a tree, and do not set it on fire. I also kill a calf and put it on the tree, and put it on fire, but do not put it on fire. 24 You Call on the name of the god, and I will call on the name of the LORD, and the god who answers with fire is God. All the people answered, “You are right.”
29 So it was past noon, and they clamored like crazy until the offering of the evening meal offering, but there was no sound, and no one answered or looked at them. 38 Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, and the soil, and watered the trench. licked it
Our only help is in the name of the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth.
Realizing that the Lord is the God who saved us, we praise the Lord, and praise God for protecting us only in the name of Jehovah on our side.
