Title: On the Road to Rome/Acts 24
The Apostle Paul finally testified of the gospel of God and Jesus Christ in Jerusalem. And again, in Caesarea, on the way to Rome, they witnessed the gospel of God and Jesus Christ.
1 “The hostile forces always and everywhere” the high priest Ananias and Tertullus the Priest (1-9)
Wherever Paul went, there were always hostile forces against him. That was his “destiny” and the “destiny” of the evangelist. When Jesus called Paul, he had already said that wherever Paul went, hostile forces would be waiting for him. “I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name” (Acts 9:16). Almost everywhere Paul went, the Jews were against him. It was like the case of Jesus. At Caesarea, Ananias the high priest, the elders of Judea, and Tertullus the preacher were against Paul. Paul's opponents were politically flattering to the Roman governor and opposed Paul. The thanks that should be attributed to God were attributed to the Roman governor. He also referred to Paul as “a plague” and “a chieftain of heresy.” They accused him of trying to defile the temple. All the Jews there also joined in and brought charges against Paul.
2 “Evangelism is everywhere to everyone” Evangelism witness in front of Governor Felix (10-21)
3 Hearing Felix's concern and way, “the result is in the hands of God” (22-27)
At Caesarea, on the way to Rome, Paul did his best to testify of the gospel of the cross and resurrection at the given time and place. The results are left to God's hands. Evangelists must do their best. Of course, evangelists may experience disappointment and pain. But don't try to do everything yourself. Leave the results in God's hands and do your best. Felix had already developed an interest in the gospel. A few days later, he and his wife listened to Paul again. I heard the way to believe in Christ Jesus. Paul testified to Felix the proper word. In other words, he preached about righteousness, temperance, and the judgment to come. Felix was afraid to listen to Paul and said that he would listen to Paul again. And heard again. We don't know what Felix's end was like. Paul just did his mission.
