One Thankful Person / Luke 17:17-19

When Jesus entered a village, he met ten men with leprosy. Sadly, in Jesus' day, there were many people with leprosy. The ten men with leprosy met Jesus, but could not come close to Him. Because people with leprosy could not enter their villages because they were dirty people. When the ten lepers saw Jesus from afar, they all shouted in unison. What would you shout? “Jesus Teacher, have mercy on us.” To have mercy on us means, “Have mercy on us and heal us.” Jesus saw ten lepers shouting. And he had compassion on the lepers according to the words of the ten. So He decided to cure them of their leprosy.

Jesus said to the ten lepers: “Show yourselves to the priests.” The reason why you had to show it to the priest was because the priest was the one who checked whether you had leprosy or not. So the ten lepers had to show themselves to the priest to prove that they were cured of their leprosy. Only then can you become a normal person and enter your village from your own family. When the ten lepers heard Jesus' words, they liked it so much that they ran to the priest. But what happened? On the way to the priest, all the leprosy was gone. It was cleansed from leprosy. The lepers were so happy that they hugged each other and wept.

When this happens, who should they thank first? Ok. Jesus. They had to come to Jesus first and give thanks. Because Jesus healed them of leprosy. But those who were healed of leprosy did not run to Jesus. They ran to the priest. Because he wanted to show the priest that he had been cleansed of his leprosy. But one of them was different. When his leprosy was gone, the man returned to Jesus, glorifying God with a loud voice. The man probably did this and came back to Jesus. "Thank God. Thank you for healing God from leprosy. I will not forget God's grace and I will live for God from now on."

We must do the same. Because we have been cleansed from a sin worse and worse than leprosy. We should thank God more than a leper. If Jesus forgave our sins and did not cleanse us, we would end up living as servants of the devil and entering a terrible hell. We should live in gratitude to God with all our hearts. I have to live my life pleasing the God who saved me.

This man came to the place where Jesus was, fell down at Jesus' feet, and continued to say, "Thank you Jesus. Thank you Jesus. How can I repay you for this grace? Thank you Jesus." Jesus then said: "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Has no one returned to glorify God except this one?" . Like this man, he thought that he should glorify God and give thanks to Jesus. Because it was not only this man who was healed of leprosy, but all ten. Jesus was very hurt.

Do you have anything to thank God for? I prayed because I was sick, but did God keep me from getting sick? In that case, do not hesitate and give thanks to God. You took an exam at school, did you do too well on the exam? Even then, thank God. Have you been praised by your teachers or parents? Even then, we should thank God. Have you been in good health throughout the day? Then, when you sleep at night, you must thank God and go to sleep. When there is something to be grateful for, always be grateful children. Today is Thanksgiving Day. I hope that they will become children who sincerely thank God for protecting them over the past year. .
