Title: One who cools the heart

one who cools the heart

1 Corinthians 16:15-18 2009, 7, 1. Wednesday Worship Sermon

Now that the full-scale sweltering heat is about to begin, where would you like to go on vacation to spend a cool summer?

People think that going to a cool place will make you cool, and if you play cool games, you will be cool, but in reality, that's not the case.

Who you are with and with whom you decide whether you are cool or frustrated.

No matter how cool you are, if you are with someone you do not love and hate,

There will be more stuffiness and heat.

But, or even if the room is hot and cramped, isn't that a cool place to be with your loved one?

When the heat of love is hot, 'Let's go out. I don't say 'let's travel'. It's good to be together.

Human beings created in the image of God have social nature.

So I can't live alone. We have no choice but to live together.

In this life together, I am important, but my absolute other, my neighbor, is very important.

The same is true of our religious life.

Whom I live my faith with can also be a factor in determining the advancement of my faith.

When the district manager takes a test and his faith weakens, all members of the district will see the level of faith lowered and spiritual exhaustion.

So, in the book 'You and I', Martin and his wife, all human life is an encounter.

Furthermore, he said that relational values are more important than individual values.

The value of my own person is not the value of myself alone.

I said that values are more important in your relationship with me.

This relationship, this encounter, and this are recorded in today's Word as well.

Today's verse is talking about the relationship between Paul, Stephen, Petnatus, and Achagus.

First of all, what kind of emotions did Paul get from meeting these people?

It is said to be 'cooled down'. 'They have cooled me and your hearts,' he says.

Do you have a saying that was popular at one time? "A woman who is like oxygen" When you see a woman's face, it's like oxygen, when you hear her voice, it's like oxygen, when you meet, it's like oxygen, and when you think about it, it's like oxygen.

In other words, there are women like carbon.

It's frustrating just looking at it, and even just one phone call makes my heart pound. "Ouch, what else are you going to say?"

Today's scripture says, "They have refreshed your hearts with me (18)."

What kind of person cools a person's heart?

Here Stephana, Petnatus, and Achaeus are members of the Corinthians.

But Paul is now at the church in Ephesus.

He came to Paul in Ephesus to cool his heart. Are you a person who provides a cool heart to everyone you meet in life, or someone who makes your heart suffocate?

You will have to re-engraved the Word while looking back at yourself.

Then, what did they do to Paul, so that Paul's heart and all those who were with him became cool?

Stephana writes that Paul had a cool heart because it gave him a reward.

Verse 15 says, “Brothers, the house of Stephanas is the firstfruits of Achaia.”

The Apostle Paul came to Athens, Greece, while preaching the gospel.

He went to Athens to preach the gospel, and the subjects were all philosophers.

So, Paul was also an intellectual with philosophical culture and logic.

He introduced them to Jesus Christ in a truly philosophical way.

He also had a desire to become a philosopher, so he also accumulated a lot of training.

Although they confidently testified of Jesus Christ, they did not establish a church in Athens, Greece.

In other words, the missionary failed.

Not only did the missions fail, but the apostle Paul's spirituality was exhausted and he said, 'I can't preach the gospel anymore. Now I have to quit my job. Now I have to give up my apostolic mission.'

So I went to Corinth.

He went to Corinth and preached the gospel in a state of exhaustion while doing the work of making the tent he had been taught. The first person to enter the church as the fruit of the gospel is Stephen.

This Stephana believed in Jesus, was raised by Paul, and was baptized.

And everyone in the house believed in Jesus. The meaning of 'together with the whole house' is refreshing.

If the whole family believes in Jesus and serves the Lord with one heart like this, it will be cool and there will be no children who have left the house because of this.

It's frustrating.

The word ‘cooled down’ here means ‘a stuffy thing has been relieved’.

It means “I was comforted and encouraged.” It means 'getting courage'.

He gave strength to Paul, who was exhausted from evangelism, and gave him great courage.

There are times when I feel tired while doing God's work.

There are times when I am tired. There are times when I feel discouraged.

You will also face the risk of wanting to give up.

We need a helping hand in times like these.

When you get tired of working hard, you gain new strength when others recognize you, encourage you, and applaud you.

Therefore, praise and encouragement should not be spared.

You shouldn't hurt other people's hearts. It shouldn't even make you feel frustrated.

Even worse, you shouldn't be the one to mess things up.

When Paul met Stephana, the words, actions, and character of Stephana were truly a great reward for Paul.

That's what made my heart cool.

He was so happy that Stephana, who was born during a difficult childbirth, gave him such a reward, Paul wrote down the emotion and his heart as it is.

Folks, all of us are not who we are now.

There are my parents who sacrificed for me, there are my wife, husband, and family who are devoted to raising me, there are teachers who raised me, and I exist because of the hard work and sweat of many others.

Then I must know the responsibilities I have been given.

You have to give love for yourself and give it back to you in return.

So it is our responsibility to provide coolness.

He also said, 'My parents spent all their household money and volunteered to build the temple of God.

I often see people who say, 'My mother prayed with tears for me every day without missing a morning prayer.'

However, in reality, there are some people who do not do the Holy Week on Sunday.

There are people who wet the pulpit at dawn every day and leave behind all their devotion to praying before God, without any reward, do not attend Sunday holy services, do not lead a religious life, do their own thing, and nail their mother's chest.

How sad is this?

If you pray a lot, you have to live your life of faith right away so that your parents will be rewarded. If you do not, your heart aches and it is very sad.

A life of faith is not a legacy.

It is a one-on-one relationship with God.

No matter how much my parents prayed, if I did not stand right in front of God, it would not be an inheritance.

Therefore, for my parents who shed tears for me, and for those who worked so hard to spread the gospel to me, I have to repay them with growing faith and as a stand-up believer to become a person who provides coolness.

Jesus also called the 12 disciples, ate, slept, and lived together, showing them a real example and raising them with the word, but there was one disciple named Judas Iscariot among them.

sold his master for 30.

Could there be such a disciple among the disciples of Jesus?

However, in human history, he is referred to as 'the one who sold his teacher and self-destructed being' and 'the representative of darkness'.

I hope that you and I can be both rewarding and refreshing to others.
