Title: Only Descendants of Abraham
Contents
The descendants of Abraham are divided into those who are born according to the flesh and those who are born according to the promise. It is written, "... Abraham had two sons, one by the slave girl and the other by the free woman; but of the slave woman after the flesh, and of the free woman by promise" (Galatians 4:22-23). ) is the same as the words of evidence.
Those who are born according to the flesh are only those who are born by blood, the will of the flesh, or the will of man. Those who are born through the promise of God are those who believe in that promise.
That is why the Bible speaks of those who are born of faith, just as it is said, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness. So then, those who come through faith know that they are the sons of Abraham. The Scriptures forewarned that, and first preached the gospel to Abraham, saying, “In you all Gentiles will be blessed. Therefore, those who come through faith are blessed together with Abraham who has faith” (Galatians 3:6-9). is.
The relationship between the farmer and the seed is a promise. When a farmer sows a field, he sows seed in the promise that it will bear fruit from the seed, and the seed, according to the promise of the farmer, according to the law of the promise, that is, the law of faith, bears much fruit because of his death, is to please you. It is the same evidence as He said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit” (John 12:24). Therefore, the farmer and the seed of promise are partners in fulfilling that promise together. It is the same evidence that is written, "Jesus said to them, My Father is working until now, and I am working..." (John 5:17).
Therefore, concerning the fruits of the seed of promise that will go into the barn, that is, the children of the promise who will enter the kingdom of God, the Bible says, “Brothers, you, like Isaac, are children of the promise. As it is, so it is now. But what does the scriptures say? Cast out the slave girl and her son, for it was said that the son of the slave girl shall not inherit with the son of the woman who is free” (Galatians 4:28-30). is doing.
For this reason, since the only people God foreknew were those who were born by promise, that is, “the children of Abraham,” the text of the truth says, “This is not really to support the angels, but to support “the children of Abraham.” Therefore, he He ought to be made like his brothers, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the work of God, to make atonement for the sins of the people” (Hebrews 2:16-17).
“Son of Abraham only” refers only to those who believe in the promise. Only those who believe in the promise are the children of the promise, “the children of Abraham only.” That is why the Bible testifies, "Deliver us also from those who are overcrowded and evil, for faith is not everyone's" (2 Thessalonians 3:2).
Therefore, if Christ Jesus is to sustain “the offspring of Abraham,” he must also be of flesh and blood as the children of promise are of flesh and blood. For this reason, the first chapter of the new covenant testifies, “The world of Jesus Christ, the son of Abraham and David” (Matthew 1:1).
Regarding this, the text of the truth says, “For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are of one; therefore he is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying, “I declare your name to my brethren, and I will sing praises to you in the midst of the church. ....” (Hebrews 2:11-12).
“Then Jesus said to them, “After you have lifted up the Son of Man, you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own, but that I speak these things as the Father has taught me.
He who sent me is with me, and he has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him. When he said these words, many believed. Become disciples and know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
They answered, "We are Abraham's descendants, and we have never been slaves. Why do you say that we will be set free?" Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin, and a slave cannot stay in the house forever." but the Son abides forever; therefore, if the Son sets you free, you will truly be free.
I know that you are Abraham's descendants, but you seek to kill me, because my words have no place in you. I speak what I have seen from my father, and you do what you heard from your father.
Jesus said, "If you were Abraham's descendants, you would do the works of Abraham, but now you are trying to kill me, the man who told you the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. You are doing what your father did
And he answered, We were not born of immorality, and there is only one Father, and that is God. Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God; I did not come of myself, but that the Father sent me. Why do you not understand my words, for you do not know how to listen to me?
You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and cannot stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. for I am speaking the truth, and you do not believe me.
Who among you will accuse me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears the word of God, and you do not listen, because you are not of God.” (John 8:28-47) Amen.
This testimony from Jesus himself will be heard only in the ears of “the seed of Abraham.” In the above verse, “they are trying to kill me, the man who told you the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.” The evidence is that Abraham was trying to kill the three men whom God had sent to destroy Sodom in God’s name. This is the testimony of the fact that Lot, who lived in Sodom, did not want to kill two angels, that is, received him without intending to kill them.
“To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13) Amen, Lord Thank you.
