Only as a man of God (Joshua 24:14-18)
Folks, it is not easy for a person to make a decision for himself. But the right decision can also change his life. Especially when it comes to faith. As we start 2010, we must also have a special resolution of faith. A good decision at the beginning is the only way to win until the end.
In today's text, Joshua is giving a farewell sermon in front of many Israelites. Among them, I would like to share the grace with Joshua 24:15, the text of which he confesses his faith.
Today we must learn Joshua's determination. What is it? Joshua declares that even if all the people of Israel turn away from God, only he and his family will serve God. We hope that the important meaning contained herein will help you in your religious decisions.
Today, I do not think that Joshua did it unilaterally without asking for the opinions of his family. I think there were enough family meetings and the whole family completely followed Joshua's opinion. You may think that the family who followed you without a fuss is good, but perhaps the example of faith that Joshua showed naturally led them naturally. Folks, the head of a family should be like this. It is most desirable for children to see their parents' religious life as a natural and ceremonial way to do so. Watching your parents serve you, you need to make them realize that ‘serving is like that’. We need to teach them the basics of faith, saying, ‘Aha, that’s what a religious life is like!’ Sometimes I hear stories of elders coming out over several generations, but that's why such a family is great. This doesn't happen randomly. This is a family that deserves respect. May this year be a year of proving that you are personally and family members of God's people.
Saints! I hope that your religious resolutions in 2010 will be clear. No matter what anyone says, no matter what other people say, I sincerely hope that the year will begin in which, like Joshua, a sure confession that I will live as a faithful believer serving only God will be confessed like Joshua.
