Sermon: Missionary Moonseon Lee

Everyone! Today is truly a historic day. We have been able to worship together in this way at the Apbo Island mission field, where we have been praying together. The history of preaching the Gospel in Apbo Island is long.

It started about 17 years ago, when our missionaries came to this place to preach the gospel and to build a church here. In 1997, a local (Mr. The zeal at that time was great enough to be dedicated.

Nevertheless, even to this day, we have been unable to build a church here as we have not been able to receive building permits from the government authorities along with the persistent interference of the local residents, and we are able to worship today in such an uncomfortable place.

Looking back, we have moved a lot of building materials to this place to build the church here, but we did not achieve the purpose of building the church, but rather lost all the materials. (10 sand trucks, 1500 blocks, palm trees) 2 trucks, plywood, tin, and even nails ... were all transported in small boats. In fact, this was a great history.) And a budget of over 10 million won was lost in the process of implementation. will be What I still remember is that I can't help but feel really sorry for the person who donated with passion for missionary work so that the church could be established here.

Aside from the history of such pain, we have had to visit this place every week, fighting countless high waves since January 2000, when our seminarians were sent to preach the gospel here in earnest. Sometimes during the worship service, there was a person who wielded a large sword and said that he would kill everyone. On the other hand, there were cases where young men from villages ran into the place where women workers slept to rape them. In addition, there have been many instances where ministers who could not endure difficult realities gave up everything and left, forgetting their true responsibilities. That is why we had to go through so many years that the pain of our missionaries caused by such incidents cannot be described in words.

As stated in today's text, Jericho was a very strong city at that time. It is said that the castle was built with double walls. It was then an important defensive stronghold in the Jordan Plains and in the West. Entrance to the castle was strictly controlled. It was not easy for the Israelites to conquer Jericho. Nevertheless, the Israelites marched around the city of Jericho. And in the end, the castle was captured.

In conclusion, this was possible only because of their faith in obedience to God's Word. God said to Joshua, “Let all the people of Israel go around Jericho once a day for six or three days! Let the priests carry the Ark of the Covenant, and the seven priests will blow the seven trumpets and set up the armed men in front and behind them. And on the seventh day, on the seventh day, go around seven times! Then all the people shout aloud!

But in the meantime let no one cry out, nor let your voice be heard, so that in the day I command you to cry out, cry out, for the LORD God has given you this city.”

Please think for a moment!

As I said earlier, it was very dangerous for the people of Israel to form formations and fight with small children, young and old, together. However, they did not rely on the power of any human beings, and they solely respected and obeyed the Word of God. This was not a war for the Israelites, but a “holy war” that was God's holy war. That is why God has made the process go through thoroughly according to God's sovereign method. If you look at verse 10 after the main text...

“You shall not cry out, let your voice be silent, and let nothing come out of your mouth.”

You said. The people listened more carefully and followed only the holy trumpet, which was regarded as the voice of God. Everyone! Therefore, when God speaks like this, God's people must listen carefully to His voice.

Therefore, we believers today must be quiet in order to hear God's voice more accurately every day in their lives. Only then will the word of God be heard more clearly. And what about the 7th day, the last day?

I woke up early in the morning. I had to hurry more than the other days. Until the last day they obeyed the Lord's command. From this verse today, we can see that the most important virtue in our religious life is obedience. Therefore, believers must live a life of obedience until the day when God's will is fulfilled.

Everyone! The city of Jericho has been designated as a target for archaeological excavations since early times.

And in the meantime, this work has been practiced by many people, and the achievement of a man named John Garstang stands out in particular.

As a result of investigating and studying the fragments and stratum of the wall that collapsed at that time, it is estimated that the time of the collapse of the fortress was around 1400-1388 BC, similar to the time of Joshua's conquest of Jericho.

And by figuring out that the cause of the collapse was due to an earthquake, it proves that the records of the Bible are historically true.

In conclusion, the city of Jericho was destroyed by the shouts of the Israelites on the last day of the seventh day. So, as the Israelites completely occupied Jericho, they took possession of the land promised by God, the welfare of Canaan, which symbolizes eternal rest for our believers.

Everyone! Even for those of us who believe, there will be so many multiplication difficulties during our lifetime. There are times when a huge barrier, like the city of Jericho, is preventing us from entering the spiritual welfare of Canaan. Please never rely on human power. Please look to our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to this earth for our sins and took up the cross to accomplish the salvation of all mankind. Only when we completely obey, obey, and follow the Word of God will work happen.

Today, our missionary work in Apbo Island is also simply obedient and silently trying to fulfill the mission given to us according to the Word. God bless us in a better way at the appointed time and build a church of God to save souls on this earth. believing that you will do it. Thank you.
