Title: Operation Jordan Doha
Contents
Number 3: 1 to 6
The reason why people had to shed blood and make sacrifices to enter Canaan is to create a world where God rules. So, how did Joshua and Israel prepare for this?
First, I stayed by the Jordan River for 3 days.<Verses 1 and 2>
What does this mean? The reason can be seen in verse 15. How will you cross the Jordan? At that time, at the time of harvesting wheat, the Jordan water was flowing so much that it filled the hill. If they crossed the river as it is, they might be attacked by the enemy and annihilated. So Joshua prayed there. Through deep communion with God, he discovered God's will and gained his heart. In particular, looking at the words of verse 2, you can see the scene where the soldiers went into the camp and gave instructions to the people, but this was not to give instructions on the contents of the operation or the strategy. It was a reminder to the people that God had taught them how to cross the Jordan. The Jordan Doha incident was a miracle among them, and it was never deliberated in an operational meeting or a meeting of officers. Joshua was not in a hurry. He waited for God to answer. By setting a will and praying, we can discover God's will and accomplish it.
Second, the sanctification of the people was commanded.
What do those who know God's will and have obtained his heart do? It was 'to be set apart' and 'to be sanctified'. God said that He would perform miracles among them and that He would show them spiritual things, so they were to be holy. It is a kind of work of repentance or devotion. It means being cleansed through repentance and surrendering the sovereignty to the Lord of all things that you would do your own way through devotion. It is a means of receiving grace in times of crisis. Holiness always leads us to walk with the Lord. So Israel miraculously crossed the Jordan. There is service, but there is no holiness, there is devotion, but when there is no holiness, no grace can be tasted. Why does faith feel futile, and why does it feel meaningless? Faith is not useless. It may be because they lose their holiness because they are too entangled in life and worldly life, and because they have lost holiness, they cannot see spiritual things or experience God's hand.
Third, what did you do after crossing the Jordan?<5:2,3:10>
They crossed the Jordan and practiced circumcision and celebrated the Passover in verses 2 and 3. Verse 10 It is an act of suicide to lie on the enemy camp in front of you, circumcise and wait for the wounds to be healed. In 5:1 and 6:1, all the enemies were terrified by the power of God working for Israel, and the gates of the city Lock the door tightly and hold your breath. Why are you driving that momentum and not hitting the enemy straight away? It was to have Israel put on the mark (circumcision), the people of God's covenant, and have God's saving grace and the blood of the Lamb engraved on their hearts. What Israel needed was that they knew that they were God's chosen people. It was to be armed with faith in the precious blood of the Lamb. When this was done, God sent God's army 5:13-14 'The commander of the army of the Lord!' He was a messenger sent by God. He was a warrior of God who would fight the Canaan war on behalf of Israel. In fact, Israel did not need to fire an arrow for the battle of Jericho. This war belonged to God, and it was a war waged by God.
(Conclusion) Through prayer, holiness, and dedicated faith, I was able to taste God's guidance, and faith in the precious blood of the Lamb, that is, the blood of Christ, gives life, defeats evil spirits, saves souls, and restores the reign of God. has the ability to make it happen. This year, I hope that any obstacle can be triumphant with this faith.
