Title: Our dream is faith / (Hebrews 11:2)
Content Even people in ancient times received God's approval for this belief.
1. A friend's scary dream
A friend of mine was sleeping in a tent in a deep mountain valley on a dark night. In the distance, you could hear the sound of grasshoppers and the stars were twinkling in the sky. Hearing the sound of rippling water, this friend fell asleep.
How much time has passed....
All of a sudden I felt a tingling sensation in my lower back. There was a sound of rain falling from the sky.
My father, mother, and younger brother who slept next to me were all gone. When I opened the tent door to my surprise, I found that the rippling river water had suddenly risen and was flowing very quickly. This friend was so scared that he called out loudly, "Mom! Mom!" But Mom and Dad were just beckoning them to come here quickly after going up on the hill in the distance.
The water kept rising and swept away if it stayed any longer. The terrified friend got up from the damp tent and tried to go to the other side of the hill, but he didn't move at all. The tent was gradually flooding with water. "Mom, Mom!" I kept shouting, but Mom didn't come to pick me up. My body, strangely, didn't listen.
That was the time. Suddenly, someone just shakes it.
"Baby, wake up, why are you calling your mother in the middle of the night and yelling at you?"
It was a dream. I must have had such a terrifying dream because I slept watching it rain heavily on the news yesterday. But the tent and the hill were all gone, but the wet water on one floor remained the same. The duvet was damp. Ok. It was so scary that I took a break.
2. What dreams did you have?
I think the friend is over there.
No?
So, what kind of dream did our friends have last night? did you just sleep?
what did you dream of Children who chatter during worship may have dreamed of falling from a high place or being chased by a demon. Friends who quietly listen to the preacher's words during the worship service now may have had a dream where they met Jesus in a dream or that their wish came true.
What do you want to achieve in your dreams?
Eating something delicious to make your stomach explode? Getting a nice boyfriend? Or to be a great soccer player? Or meeting Jesus.
3. Sleeping Dreams vs Waking Up Dreams
There are many different types of dreams.
If there is any kind... Dream of a dog in which a dog appears or a dream of a pig in which a pig appears, it is not like that.
4. Guess who this person is.
Now I'm going to give you a quiz. Let's find out which grade is the smartest by grade. After taking this quiz, you will see how important dreams are.
Guess who this person is.
① Hoho, the gray-haired grandfather. But this grandfather had a dream. It was a dream that his descendants would become as numerous as the stars in the sky. Who is... - That's right. Abraham
② This person is a prince. But this prince had a dream. The original people living in slavery will be freed from slavery and live in a new land with God's blessings. So this prince decided to suffer with his people rather than become king. Who are you? .... Yes. Moses.
③ This person is the Prime Minister. Did I tell you to call me Joseph? - no. But this man also had a dream. This man's country had already collapsed decades ago, but he had a dream that one day he would become independent again. So he was not afraid to go into the lions' den and prayed to God three times a day. Who are you? --- Ok. Daniel.
Not just these three people, but there are too many people with dreams in the Bible. Do you know what all these people have in common? It means that God has given you that dream. God is the one who gives dreams to everyone he loves.
5. Achievers vs. Unfulfillers
However, some people achieve their God-given dreams, but others do not. Some people don't even know what dreams God has given them. What's the difference? That's faith.
“Belief that God has given me a dream, even if I am a 100-year-old grandfather, even if I give up on becoming a king, even if I die in a lion’s den, I believe that God will surely make that dream come true.” I made my dream come true.
6. What children do
God loves our children too. Be sure to have a good plan. It's probably all different. But he gave each of us the best dream. What dreams do our children have when they are awake? What will it be later?
I need to discover the dream God has given me, not the dream I thought of myself.
And you have to believe that God will surely make it happen in any situation.
And we have to live by obedience to God according to that belief.
7. Future study plan
From now on, until the end of this year, we will be studying people from the Bible every week. Some people made their dreams come true, others didn't. Let's learn how to live and make that dream come true. And, like the people in the Bible, let's live by faith so that we can achieve the dream that has been given to us.
8. Pray together.
Let's pray together.
God loves you. So, I prepared a beautiful dream for each of you. If a child has a dream, first ask if the dream is a God-given dream. And I pray that you can make that dream come true. If we have a friend who doesn't have any dreams yet, we pray that God will give us dreams. It's okay if it's not right now. One day, at the best time, God will give you a dream. And I pray for faith. I pray that you will live in faith and obedience.
