Title: Our Father in Heaven

our father in heaven
Matthew 6: 9-15
Prayer is a conversation between God and believers in God. Therefore, in order to know God, to draw close to Him, and to live according to His will, prayer is absolutely necessary. A good example of prayer is to be found in Jesus Christ, who is both fully God and fully man. Christ prayed whenever important things happened. In this respect, all prayers give a lot of hints about the importance of prayer and how we should pray. There are countless examples and lessons of prayer like this in the Bible, but the “Lord’s Prayer” is the one that gives the deepest lesson and sets a good example. (Two armies recorded in the Bible, Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 11:2-4)
1. The Lord's Prayer is basically composed of worship, supplication, and chanting
The opening part is the content of praising God, the object of worship, and the closing part, the song song, contains the content of thanks again for hearing God's prayer. And there are seven types of supplications, which make up the majority of prayer, the first three relate to God, and the next four relate to human concerns.
2. Object of Prayer - “Our Father who art in heaven” As such, all prayers should begin with reverent meditation on the name of God and the perfection of God. As we draw near to the throne of grace, we should have a proper fear of God's supreme sovereignty and power, yet holy confidence in the Father's goodness.
3. Three elements are necessary for prayer to be fervent and effective. fervency, reverence, and confidence. Zeal is the result of putting our affections into action. Worship will be heightened by realizing that we are speaking toward the heavenly throne. Confidence will increase when we consider the object of our prayers to be our Father.
4. Because God is the Creator, He is the Father who has the patriarchal authority over humans.
“Have we not one father? Was it not made by one father?” (Mal 2:10) “But, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter; we are all the work of your hands” (Isaiah 64:8).
We have a higher relationship with God than simply a natural father-son relationship.
First, God is the Father of spiritual believers.
Second, God is the Father of the elect because God is the Father of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:3).
Third, God is the Father of the elect by an eternal decree: Fourth, God becomes the Father of His elect by regeneration, whereby they are reborn and become “partakers of the divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4). Therefore, in the Lord's Prayer, the word 'our Father' not only signifies our status as a spiritual child, but also means our duty as a spiritual child.
