2. The vine and branches - the unity of life
(John 15:4) Abide in me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of its own accord unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in me (John 15:5). you have; if he is in me and I in him, this man bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
3. Head and house-temple relationship
(1 Peter 2:4) Come to Jesus, a living stone rejected by men, but chosen and precious by God (1 Peter 2:5), that you also, like living stones, are being built up into a spiritual house, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. You shall be a holy priest who offers spiritual sacrifices.
4. Head and body - upper body
(Ephesians 4:5) There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism (Ephesians 4:6) There is one God, the Father of all, who is above all and has all and is in all (Ephesians 4:7) To each one grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ (Ephesians 4:8), therefore it is said, When he ascended on high, he captivated the captives and gave gifts to men.
(Ephesians 4:16) From him the whole body is connected and joined together by the help of each joint, and works according to the measure of each part, so that the body grows and builds itself up in love.
5. Teacher Assignment - Education
(John 13:13) You are right when you say that I am the teacher or the Lord, and you are right, so am I (John 13:14) I have washed your feet as Lord and Teacher;
6. Friends and Sinners
(Matthew 11:19) The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and he said, Behold, a glutton and a drinker of wine, a friend of tax collectors and sinners. Wisdom is justified by what he has done.
(John 15:13) Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends (John 15:14) If you do what I command you, you are my friends (John 15:15) I will not call you servant, for a servant does not know what his master is doing, and I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
7. Groom and Bride
(Rev 19:7) Let us rejoice and rejoice greatly, and give glory to him: for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his wife is ready (Matthew 25:1) Then the kingdom of heaven is like ten who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. (Matthew 25:2) Five of them are foolish, and five are prudent (Matthew 25:13) Watch therefore, for you do not know the day or the hour.
(Rev 21:2) And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
