Title: Our Salvation
1. God has given us the citizenship of heaven (verse 13)
“He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.”
“But our citizenship is in heaven” (Philippians 3:20).
2. How did God give us the citizenship of heaven? (verse 14)
“In his Son we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins”
1) It is almost impossible to get a passport and visa to leave the country of darkness. This is because Satan prevents anyone from going out through the power of darkness. The way to be freed from this power of darkness is to pay the price for your sins. What is the price of sin? your death. Only through your death can you get your passport and visa. And only through birth in heaven can we obtain the citizenship of heaven (John 1:12; John 3:5).
2) Only in the Son of God (Cross and Resurrection) (verse 14).
(1) The cross of Jesus Christ is redemption (redemption is the slave market or prisoners of war).
(2) The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a new life (regeneration).
3) God has given us grace (Colossians 1:2 and 4:18)
“By grace you have been saved” (Ephesians 2:5).
3. We have already been transferred to the kingdom of God, but we still remain in the power of darkness.
“The kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21).
This world is still under the power of darkness. Jesus also said, “My kingdom is not of this world” in John 18:36. We too have entered the kingdom of God in spirit, but physically, we still remain in the realm of sin and death. Geopolitically, we are still in the power of darkness. May your hearts and even your bodies be governed by the Lord (Romans 12:1-2).
