Title: Out of Faith (Mark 4:35)

in no faith

Mark 4:35-41

As the two of them go down the road, they talk. “The power of the true God is so amazing, how can a small calf become such a large cow and how can a bird come out of a small egg?” Another person listening says, “But I do not understand. The thing is, birds eat a little to be full, and cows eat a lot, but you have to go here and there and eat a lot to make the cow not fly, and the bird that eats a little and is full from anywhere makes the bird fly? Shouldn’t it be changed?” The moment God spoke of God’s mistake, a bird flying over their heads dropped dung. Then the man who was talking about why cows can't fly, patted his knee and said, "Ah! Now I understand why God did not let the cows fly.” It's a pity that a small bird dropped poop, but if a big cow dropped its poop while flying, it would have been a disaster.

In fact, there are times when we feel that nothing in the world does not make sense, even though there is nothing that God has made without a plan, and there is nothing that makes anything meaningless to exist. And because of that, I live while being tested.

Even we sometimes think, 'Why did God not do this and do that?' We live our lives. This is why God does not allow us to live the life He has given us with ease, but at times suffer difficulties and even make us fall because of those difficulties. In the midst of it, we try to blame others, hold someone accountable, and even blame God for being extremely unbelieving. However, we do not know when this appearance started, but it is clear that we are not the first. This is because, at least, it appears in the disciples of Jesus who lived before us.

However, the appearance of the disciples appearing in this incident today was an act of disbelief in rebuking the Lord, and maybe it was similar to ours. In the end, it is a story about the issue of faith remaining as homework. Looking at this text, we go back to the disciples on that day. Think about what we would have done. It probably wouldn't have been much different. So let's see why these disciples were rebuked by the Lord for not having faith today. And I hope it will be a time to build our faith by thinking about what we would have done if we had been there.

We too should not go to the point of not trusting God when a storm surges in the ship of our lives and the seawater rushes in. We are filled with anxiety, worry, fear, and unbelief. Even if the boat in our life is pushed by the waves a little, and even a little bit of water comes in, our peace of mind is quickly broken and the balance of our faith is broken.

Now, when the Lord sees these disciples, what does he say? “How can you have no faith?” He rebukes. Today's disciples' overall problem is that of faith. Not having faith is the problem, lack of faith is the problem, and not believing is the problem.

At first, even the Lord was deceived by the disciples. When asked to go to the other side of the lake, he must have known that the disciples had faith and immediately obeyed without a sound. But now that I have come to see, where is that belief? How are we today? We must not deceive the Lord by pretending to be obedient. Such a faith that jumps out quickly and pretends to be zealous, but does not show faith when it is decisive, is an exaggerated faith that is no different from today's disciples, and it is a false faith that deceives the Lord. So today, the Lord is rebuking the disciples for their lack of faith.

What do you mean after all? Today, the fundamental fear of these disciples is not because of the storm, but because of lack of faith. So are we. It's not a problem because the world we live in is too big, it's not a problem because my reality is too heavy, it's a fear, hardship, and pain because of lack of faith.

Today, the Lord suddenly invites us to cross the lake in a boat. We have to paddle non-stop. The shape of the oar is different, and the size and purpose of the boat may be somewhat different from each other. But we are all sailors on the boat that took Jesus. And please remember. There are storms in the ship the Lord is riding in, and there are often storms and waves in the Galilee of our lives. But this world is a lake that must be crossed. Only when you cross this sea can you find true rest and true peace.

Dear saints!

Those who do not go out to sea will never encounter storms. Safe seekers don't even know how the wind blows, and they don't know how dangerous the sea is. But you will not see the mystical power of the Lord on the sea. The mysterious experience of calming the waves and calming the sea in one word can only be experienced by those who have been out to sea. I hope that you will not become foolish people who do not know these mysteries because you do not have faith, but that you can stand by faith in the word and power of the Lord.
