Title: Overcome Problems with Humility!/Matt 22:1~14
Overcome problems with humility!/Matt 22:1~14
Key Verse: “Many are called, but few are chosen” (verse 14).
Word: Everyone lives with conflict and pain. However, many of today's pain, failure, and conflict are caused by pride. These are problems that can be solved if we can be humble, but pride is causing more and more suffering.
The main text is ‘The Parable of the Wedding Feast’. This is the message of judgment for human disobedience following the aforementioned ‘parable of the two sons’ and ‘the parable of the wicked peasants’. There are several lessons to be learned from these three parables. ① Those with vested interests are more likely to be arrogant (verse 15). ② Nevertheless, God gives us an opportunity for repentance (verse 9). ③ If you reject that love in the end, you will be destroyed (verse 13). ④ Because of that refusal, the blessing is transferred to those who obey (verse 10). ⑤ But those who obey are few (v. 14). The Lord concludes the three parables as follows: “Many are called, but few are chosen.”
Then, why does disobedience grow so deep? In a word, because it is arrogant. There are many excuses, but the root is because the pride that can live without God is lurking in it. In the end, pride was the cause of defeat. Only when you are humble can you be at peace and free from conflicts and continue to enjoy the grace you have received.
This is the story of Saint Francis. As his disciple was praying, he saw a vision of heaven where a glorious throne was placed. When asked, “Who is it?” the archangel says, “It belongs to Francesco, the humblest person in the world.” Waking up from the vision, he asks his teacher with envy and envy. “What kind of person do you consider yourself a teacher?” Then Francesco answered without hesitation. “He is the worst person in the world.” The disciple retorts. “It is hypocrisy and lies. The teacher is revered as a saint, how can you say that he is evil?” “You don’t know. It is only by the grace of God that I have come this far. If the Lord had bestowed this grace upon others, they would have been much better than me.”
What kind of person do you consider yourself to be? Can you truly admit your sinfulness, weakness, and worthlessness? Is my personality really the grace of God? If we are not humble, we become conflicted, disobedient, and fall. Be humble. The humble find peace on earth and a throne of glory in heaven. I hope that we can overcome this era with true humility.
Prayer: Lord, who overcomes the proud and gives grace to the humble, help us overcome the times with humility and possess the kingdom of heaven. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
