Title: Parable of the Mustard Seed and Leaven
Historians say that Israel was able to establish an independent state in 1948 because it had a vision. A woman Jesus met at a well in the city of Suga in Samaria was also looking forward to the coming of the Messiah. “(John 4:25) I know that the Messiah is coming, who is called Christ”. The dream of the Messiah was filled in the consciousness of the whole nation.
What is our nation's vision? Is it unification? What are your dreams after that? A lot of people commit suicide these days. Why? Because there is no vision to track down the source of suicide. The Bible says, "(Proverbs 29:18) Where there is no vision, the people go wild, but blessed are those who keep the law. In other words, people without a vision will perish. It is the church's responsibility to instill this vision. We must give this people a dream.
Why the Church Exists
1. To carry out the command of Christ
1. To carry out the command of Christ
1) The command of Christ is to establish the kingdom of God.
- The kingdom of God is the kingdom that God rules. It is a place where God's sovereignty and will are fully accomplished.
- The kingdom of God is the kingdom where the will of Christ is done.
2) How will the kingdom of God be established?
- through the preaching of the gospel
- The Lord has entrusted the preaching of the gospel to the church (Matthew 28:18, Acts 1:8).
- The purpose of preaching the gospel is to provide others with a sure opportunity to receive Christ.
2. In order to fulfill this mission, the church must grow and revive.
1) There is a lot of controversy between supporters and opponents of church growth. Opponents argue that:
- Opponents: waste and quantityism.
- Quality is more important than quantity. However, it is a mistake to contrast quantity and quality.
2) God wanted the church to grow. The church of Christ has grown.
3. The book of Acts is an example of God's will for church growth.
1) We started with a small church.
-Jesus began with 12 disciples
-On the day of Pentecost, there were only 120 people.
- After some time, there were 3,000 (Acts 2:41).
- After some time, the number of men who heard the word reached about 5,000 (Acts 4:4).
2) The saying that the number of saints increased and increased greatly is remarkable.
(Acts 2:47, 8:12, 9:31, 11:21, 16:14, 21:20))
nature of the kingdom of God
Jesus compared the kingdom of God to a mustard seed and leaven. Mustard seeds and yeast are small and insignificant. The mustard seed is a symbol of the smallest. Leaven is invisible in form. But this little thing grows up and later becomes great. The kingdom of God has a small beginning, but it grows greatly.
1. Difference
1) The growth and maturity of mustard seeds are visible.
2) The yeast does not appear to expand and exists internally.
2. Common
1) Mustard seeds and yeast have life and grow.
2) The mustard seed grew and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.
The bird of the air speaks of a stranger.
All Gentiles can participate in the kingdom of God.
3) Yeast finally made all the powdered prefaces swell.
In this way, the gospel grows and conquers the world.
A church that preaches the gospel has the power to conquer the world like this.
3. Let's become a growing church by spreading the gospel.
The Lord said that you must reach to the ends of the earth and become my servants.
When the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit, they spread out into the world.
suasion
1. Let's meet people to spread the gospel.
2. Let the members receive education through discipleship training in the church.
3. Prepare human and financial resources for missionary work.
4. Spirits unrelated to Christ are scattered around our church within a 10- to 15-minute walk. You have to be able to accept them.
5. Let's pray and expand the kingdom of God.
