Contents Bible text: Matthew 25:31-46 Title: Parable of the sheep and goats
Matthew 25:31-46.
31 When the Son of Man comes in his glory with all the angels, he will sit on the throne of his glory. 32 Gather all the nations together before him, and separate them from each other.
33 And the sheep shall be placed on their right hand, and the goats on their left. 34 Then the king said to those on his right hand,
Come, you who are blessed by my Father, for you from the foundation of the world
Inherit the kingdom prepared 35 I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink.
When I was a stranger, I welcomed you; 36 When I was naked, I clothed myself;
37 And the righteous answered and said, Lord, when shall we
38 When did the king see you hungry, and feed you, and thirsty and give you drink? 38 When did the king see you and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 When did he see you sick or in prison and go see you? 40 He answered and said, Truly I say to you,
what you did to one of the least of these my brothers
It was done to me.” 41 And he said to those on his left, Cursed!
Leave me and enter the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels 42 I was hungry and you gave me no food.
He was thirsty and gave no drink, 43 He was a stranger and he did not welcome him, Naked and he put no clothes on him.
When I was sick and when I was in prison, I did not look after you." 44 They also answered and said, "Lord, when did we become hungry?
thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick,
45 And the king answered and said to him, "Truly, I say to you, this most
For whatever you did not do for one of the little ones, you did not do for me.” 46 For they will go into eternal punishment, and the righteous into eternal life.
1. Faith and works must go together.
This is James 2:14-26.
14 My brethren, what profit is it if a person says he has faith and has no works?
Can his faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and has no daily bread, 16 any of you will say to him, Go in peace, keep warm, and be satisfied.
What profit does it have if you do not give it to the body? 17 In this way, faith without works is dead. 18 Some say, You have faith, and I have works.
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith through deeds 19 Do you believe that there is only one God? 21 for what our father Abraham did when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar.
Haven't you been justified? 22 You see that faith works with his works,
Faith was perfected by works. 23 Then it came to pass that the so-called Abraham believed God,
It was said that it was reckoned as righteousness,
He was called the friend of God. 24 From this we can see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way, when Rahab the harlot received the messengers and sent them out another way.
Have we not been justified by works? 26 For just as the body without the soul is dead, so faith without works is dead.
2. Love doesn't ask for rewards.
The love of the good Samaritan is a love that does not ask for a reward.
It is supreme. (Luke 10:25-37.)
25 A certain lawyer got up and tested Jesus, saying,
Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? 26 Jesus said to him, What is written in the law, and how do you read it? 27 He answered and said, With all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, with all your mind,
You said, ‘Love the Lord your God, and you must love your neighbor as yourself. 30 Jesus answered and said, A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho.
When he met a robber, the robbers stripped him of his clothes, beat him, and left behind all that was dead. 31 A priest was going down that road, and saw him, and passed by on the way. 32 In the same way, a Levite also came to the place, saw him, and passed by on the other side. 33 Some Samaritans who were traveling When he came there, when he saw him, he had pity on him, 34 and went near him, poured oil and wine on his wounds, bound him up, and set him on his own animal.
They brought him to the inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave it to the innkeeper, saying
Take care of this man, and if there is more money, I will repay you when I return. 36 Which of these three do you think is the neighbor to the man who was struck by a robber? 37 And he said, He is the one who showed mercy.
Go and do likewise.
3. The Lord helps the little ones. (verse 40)
“Truly I say to you, you are the least of these my brethren.
As you did it to one, you did it to me.”
Conclusion.
If I live well like this, even if everyone in the world is not on my side,
Never forget that God is on my side forever.
