Title: Parents praying for their children
Contents
Children are a gift from God (Psalm 127:3) Childbirth is a blessing from God. The birth of a child has the meaning of fulfillment of God's promise. Such is the birth of Isaac and Jacob in the Bible. Abraham believed God's promise, and God fulfilled that promise. The patriarchs of the Old Testament confirmed God's promises with their own eyes. And he kept that promise. He entrusted the rearing of his children to God. Raising children today is not an easy task. There is an old saying that you should not curse other people's children. Because my children can make mistakes just like anyone else's. I want to firmly believe that it is not my child, but there are no exceptions.
That's why we can't brag about our children. All we can do is pray for our children. Children grow up on the love of their parents. Parents who love their children will pray. Today's text sees a patriarch who prays for his children. Let's learn what we pray for by looking at what we pray for our children.
1. Pray for the birth of a child
Isaac married Rebekah according to God's will, but there were no children for 20 years. In the age of advanced medical technology like these days, it is possible to examine and think of an artificial method, but in the past there was no other way. The only way is to pray to God. God opened and closed the womb, so we had to ask God. It is common for children to be born after marriage, so I am not very grateful. However, there are many people who worry and suffer because they do not have children. These people really need to pray. Today's text Isaac prayed. After 20 years of hearing, God gave him a child, but he gave him twins. However, there was a fight from the inside and a riot broke out. Rebekah complains of the pain of childbirth. God helped me to give birth.
2. Pray for your child's growth
In contrast, Rebekah gave birth to twins. The older brother has a red body, hair, and is brave like a man. But the younger brother was hairless, smooth, and clever. Personality looks different temperament The two children are at odds with each other. It will not be easy to raise two opposite children. Not that it wasn't, but the education of the two children was wrong. I had to pray for the growth of my children and ask for God's wisdom. However, there was the pain of separation due to the favoritism of the parents. Later, there was a near-murder between the brothers. The worst is parental favoritism. I am very interested in prenatal education (prenatal prayer).
3. I prayed for my children's marriage.
Tolstoy said that the first thing to do for marriage is to pray first, pray second, and pray third. Of course, you should pray for yourself. However, parents should pray for their children's marriage in advance. When going to war, pray once, when going out to sea, pray twice, and for marriage, pray three times. That's why marriage is so important.
Abraham, the father of faith, sends the old woman to his hometown to find a wife for the wife of his son Isaac. Since God gave the promised land and gave him a son, he believed that God would choose a spouse. Indeed, as I had prayed, God saved me. Everyone prayed. Not only Abraham, but also Isaac and Lamb prayed. You must pray in advance. We need to pray that we will find a partner of faith. The first priority is trust. Later association with unbelievers is painful. We need to pray in advance so that we can meet God's appointed spouse in order.
4. Pray for your child's future.
His sons Esau and Jacob were grown up. Esau, according to his personality, became a hunter. On the other hand, Jacob helped his mother with household chores at home. In Esau, the things he likes are inconsequential. Because I was hungry, it was important to eat right now, and the cause of the future birthright was of no use. He married a heathen woman without his parents' permission. This became a concern for parents. Esau was guaranteed a future as the firstborn. He was able to inherit his father's business. But Esau missed the guaranteed blessing. Rather, Jacob, although the second son, has stolen the birthright and blessings. Rather than intercepting it, he actually looked at God's blessing. Later, I received all of my father's blessing prayers. We have the privilege to bless our children. It shows how great the power of prayer is,
