Title: Parents who entrusted their children

parents with children
(2007.05.06.Children's Sunday) (2 Sam 19:31~38)
In the countryside, from late spring to early summer, there is a sad howling bird. - It's a dog bird and a cuckoo.
The two-headed bird and the cuckoo are almost identical in size, except that the two-headed bird is a little smaller and the cuckoo is larger.
But the birds do lay eggs, but they do not incubate. These are birds that cannot hatch.
Maybe they cry so sadly because they can't incubate even after laying eggs.
How do cockroaches and cuckoos that can't even lay eggs reproduce their young? Aren't you curious?
Birds and cuckoos cannot incubate their own eggs, but they have the wisdom to breed their own young.
When another bird builds a nest for breeding, it sneaks into the nest and lays eggs - which other birds incubate, hatch and raise.
The eggs are cuckoo eggs, but they entrust their eggs to other mother birds. - What a wise bird.
*There is nothing better than a cuckoo.
Humans give birth to children's bodies and raise their bodies, but it is not easy to take responsibility for their children's souls as well.
However, it is even more important to ignore the soul of a lovely child.
Today is Children's Day. It's a day to think about your children.
It's a week to think about your children's future. It is a Sunday to think about the souls of your children.
*The cuckoo that lays eggs but cannot raise them entrusts their eggs to other mother birds.
*People also give birth to children, but we need to find a place to entrust our souls.
*“I entrust my children to God” “God take care of my children” “Take care of my children”
Children who are entrusted to God, children whom God takes responsibility for - I believe that children will surely become victorious.
1. We must become parents of beautiful faith.
Not everyone entrusts their children to God.
How can a person who does not believe in God himself entrust his children to God? I won't leave it to you.
Only those who know God, know God's grace, and know God's love, entrust their children to God.
In today's text, Barzillai, a Gileadite from Israel, appears.
Barzillai entrusted his successor, Kim Ham, to King David and entrusted him with great favor.
Even though David is king, he cannot take charge of all the people of Israel and take care of them like a prince.
Although King David was not his son, there were two men who looked after him like his own.
One is Mephibosheth, son of David's friend Jonathan, and the other is Kimham, the successor of Barzillai.
Mephibosheth and Gimham entered the royal palace and were protected like princes in common.
*Mephibosheth - because his father Jonathan - believed in God - took care of David who was endangered - because of his father Jonathan's love, faith, and devotion, his son Mephibosheth was blessed (Samsa 9:7).
* Hamdo Kim - His father Barzillai - With faith in God - David, who was fleeing from crisis - because he served with utmost devotion (2 Samuel 17:27-29) - His son Kim Ham was blessed by his father's faith is.
Dear saints, do you want your children and your descendants to be blessed?
First of all, I hope you have a beautiful faith. Be loyal believers.
Then the way to receive grace, love, and blessings from your descendants will be opened.
2. You should entrust it with your child's future in mind.
Sometimes, even among those with good faith, there are people who only keep their faith, but do not take care of the faith of their family and do not think about the future of their children.
* King Hezekiah of the Old Testament was a great believer. But King Hezekiah is a failure in the matter of children.
The prophet Isaiah said to King Hezekiah, “I will be taken captive among the king’s sons and become eunuchs of Babylon.”
If he had been a good father - he would have cried and prayed for help for his son. Hiscaiah was not like that.
(2 Kings 20:19) - “If there be peace and truth in the days of my life, how can it not be good?” - He said that as long as he lives in peace, it does not matter what happens to his children. - His son Manasseh became an evil king, and his kingdom was destroyed. Many were taken captive to Babylon - you should think of your children as much as you do yourself.
*Barzillai entrusted his son to the king, thinking about the future of his son, the successor.
(Text Verse 37b) - “Here is your servant Kimham. I pray that he may cross over with my lord the king, and give him the king’s disposal.” - When a father with good faith entrusted his son to the king, He was treated as precious as this prince.
*Jonathan also knew that his friend David would become king - and asked David to take care of his children - After Jonathan died, his son Mephibosheth was protected and loved like a prince in the royal palace.
Like Barzillai, like Jonathan - entrust your children to God the King.
If a person who lives by faith entrusts his children to God, God will protect them like a prince.
3. Hannah also entrusted Samuel to the priest.
I saw Barzillai and Jonathan, who had entrusted their sons to the king. - Kimham son of Barzillai and Mephibosheth son of Jonathan were protected by the king.
There is also a mother who entrusted her son to a priest and made him a great priest.
*Hannah gave birth to a son, but the family was not peaceful - Hannah for the sake of her son - As soon as she was weaned, she took her son Samuel to the priest - and left it to the priest to raise him in the priest's house.
Samuel, who was entrusted to the priests from a young age and raised by the priests, grew up to be a faithful believer and became a great priest who led Israel.
4. Let us imitate the mothers who brought their children to Jesus.
Thousands of people followed Jesus. Some people heard the gospel of the kingdom while following Jesus, some people were healed, and there were many people who got food.
Then some people bring their little ones to Jesus.
The crowds hated those who even brought their children.
Even Jesus' disciples rebuked him for bringing children into public places.
But why did those who brought their children with them despite being scolded, brought their own children?
*(Matthew 19:13) - “At that time, people brought little children in hopes that Jesus would put their hands on him and pray, and the disciples rebuked them.”
No matter how many people hate it, no matter how harshly scolded - it doesn't matter.
“I want my child to receive Jesus’ attention” “I want my child to be laid on the hands of Jesus” “I need my child to receive prayers from Jesus” - I brought the children to Jesus with such holy greed.
Jesus knew the noble hearts of their parents
(Matthew 19:14-15) - "Jesus said to them, "Have little children and do not forbid them to come to me, for this is the kingdom of heaven." He laid his hands on them and left them." - Amen!!
Today, we saw who was treated like a prince in the king's house, who was loved by the priest and grew up to become a priest, who was placed in the arms of Jesus, laid on his hands and prayed for.
I have seen the faith of those parents carry over to their children.
Through the parents who entrusted their children to the king, the parents who entrusted their children to the priests, and the parents who entrusted their children to Jesus - we have gathered how their children are loved and blessed.
Please entrust your children to Jesus the King and Jesus the Priest. Please leave it to the church.
So, I pray that your faith will be praised and that your children will become more blessed families.
