Sermons for Preaching

Title: Part the seas/Exodus 14:15-31

Contents Exodus 14:15-31

split the sea

“Take up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea to part it; and the children of Israel will walk on dry land in the midst of the sea” (160).

1. What did God say to Moses when he cried out? And what of the Egyptian army? What did God want to be revealed through this passage? Through this case, what must believers in trouble learn to understand?(15-18)

2. What did God do to protect the people of Israel from the Egyptian army that pursued them? (19-20)

3. What happened when Moses did according to God's word? How do we know that the cleft event is not a mere natural phenomenon? (21-22)

4. What happened to Pharaoh's army? What is the end of those who do not repent to the end? (25-28)

5. How did the people of Irael, who crossed the sea on dry land, change and what did they realize? (29-31)

6. What kind of leader was Moses? How can a leader be recognized by God and the people?]

7. Who is the God shown in the text?

The text is a famous story about the parting of the Red Sea, the Israelites crossing the sea like land, and the Egyptian army following them drowned in the Sea of Mogu and annihilated. God's people were eventually saved, and they experienced the power and love of God deeply, and all those who rebelled against God to the end were destroyed, and God was glorified.

1. Divide the sea (15-20)

2. Israel crossed the sea like land (21-29)

When Moses did as God had said, the sea parted and the water became like walls on the left and right. The children of Israel crossed the sea as dry land. The fact that Moses stretched out his hand over the sea or that the people set foot on the road in the sea can be done with faith in God. Believers can only taste God's existence and His power and love only when they obey by faith. When the Egyptian army pursued after Israel by the road between the seas, the water flowed again and fell on the Egyptian army, and they were all deceived by the sea and buried. It became a sea of salvation for Israel and a sea of destruction for Egypt.

3. God-fearing Israel (30-31)

The people of Israel, who feared and trembled in the midst of crisis and experienced the hand of God's power, revered God. He also came to believe in Moses as a servant of God. After you overcome hardships with faith like this, you will grow in your faith. Above all, God is glorified. Will any sea (obstacle) stand in your way, lift up the staff of your heart and make it part? Will you turn that obstacle into an instrument to the glory of God?

Memory Verse “Raise your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and let it part; and the children of Israel shall walk on dry land in the midst of the sea” (16).

Hymn 446
