Title: Pass the Initiative (Ex 2:1-10)

Contents

In today's text, we see that there was a problem of initiative between God and his parents over the raising of Moses, the hope of Israel's salvation.

First, it was the parents who took the initiative.

Verse 2 says, “The woman conceived and bore a son, and when she saw how good she was, she hid him for three months.” Why did you have to hide it? Because Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, fearing the strength of Israel, gave a sad order to kill all the boys. But Moses' parents saw that this child was no ordinary child. In Hebrews 11, it says, “I saw that he was a beautiful child,” which means that they were given hints of “beauty in the sight of God,” that is, this child that God will use greatly. So the parents hid this child. I risked my life to protect it. They used all their wisdom and abilities to hide and raise the child.

But looking at verse 3, it says, “It became impossible to hide any longer.” In other words, it has reached its limit. How long was that limit? It was six months.

Although Moses' parents took the initiative because of their love for this child and raised them to the best of their own ways, eventually their abilities reached their limit in three months. After three months, when they hit their limits, they eventually have to give up.

Dear brothers and sisters, this is the limit of human-led life. I became the owner of the problems in my life, so I took the initiative, took the lead with my wisdom and my ability, and tried to think about it, but the result was failure. I hit a limit. It was down after three months.

I do not know how many people are following in the footsteps of these Moses parents today. Those who claim to know God do not recognize God's sovereignty in the specific issues of life. This is 'my problem'. And the thing is that I can solve it my way. So, hold on to the problem until the end, and without God, as if God did not exist.

Rum, I'm tying my hair up like that and repeating futile effort. Then, eventually, you hit a limit. After three months, he raises his hand and gets up and throws it away. And do you know what to say? ‘I believe in God, so why is this happening?’

You have to think well. If you believe in God, you must acknowledge God's sovereignty and surrender the initiative to God to lead your life. This is the key to problem solving. Let's keep looking at the actions of these Moses and parents. Those who hit their limits eventually float the child out of their hands. Now that I have given up. But instead of just throwing it into the river, he takes a reed box, paints it with bitumen and wood, puts the child in it, and sends it off. And in verse 4 it says, “I stood there to see what would happen to my sister.

What is the mind of Moses' parents who do this? Now, it means to entrust the hand of God. Let's see what God does. ‘God, now this child is completely out of our hands. Now, God takes charge of it, and please guide me in your own way and by your power.’ Wasn’t this the way you felt?

Now, in this way, God has taken the initiative. And what happened? 1. Moses saves lives. 2. You gain the status of being the princess's son. 3. Publicly raised again in the hands of the parents. 4. I also receive child support. 5. Get the best education.

The miracle happened the moment I gave the initiative to God, which had not been possible even after three months of hard work and effort.

This is the result of life led by God. If God takes care of it, God takes care of it. When we acknowledge God's sovereignty, God must lead the way. “Acknowledge him in everything, and he will direct your ways” (Proverbs 3:5). This is the promise of the Bible and God's way.

Dear brothers and sisters, many believers today are suffering from numerous problems. Even though they say they believe in God, they are still holding on to the problem with their own hands and do not know what to do. They even say that believing in Jesus is not a practical ability in life.

But we must first look at our own lives. ‘Am I properly serving God as my Lord now? Am I surrendering all areas of my life to God? Are you acknowledging God’s sovereignty?’

Dear brothers and sisters, leave it to God. Give God the initiative. Like Moses and parents, do not hold on to you and try to solve it without God, but trust and entrust it to God's hands. The life of faith is a matter of initiative. As long as we continue to take control of our lives, our lives will only continue to go at odds and limit. However, everything changes when you surrender the control of your life to Almighty God. God handles it. God is in charge.

In the face of problems and hardships that arise moment by moment, humbly admit and confess that God is your Lord. And I pray that God will lead my life. When you do that, you will fully experience how beautiful and rich the life God leads is.
