▒▒▒▒ 1 Kings 2:28-31
We know King David or King Hezekiah and King Josiah as undoubtedly great kings. But deciding whether Solomon is a good king or not is not easy. In 1 Kings 3, we find Solomon offering a thousand burnt offerings to God in Gibeah. God was pleased with Solomon who offered the burnt offering like this, and gave him not only the wisdom and understanding he sought, but also wealth and glory that he did not ask for. Also, in 1 Kings 5-8, the construction of the temple begins. Hearing Solomon's humble prayer in chapter 8, God bestows even greater blessings on Solomon. Why was Solomon blessed by God? His passion for God burned so much that he worshiped God a thousand times and built a beautiful temple.
However, from 1 Kings 11, things are a little different. Solomon loved foreign women other than Pharaoh's daughter, so he built an idol worshiping temple for them and worshiped them. So, as soon as Solomon died, the united Israel was divided into Northern Israel and Southern Judah. These facts undoubtedly make Solomon a failed king. The only reason he failed was that he had lost his passion for the faith.
In 1 Kings 2, there is a man named Joab. He is the son of David's sister Zeruiah. And David's bodyguard and commander of the army. He took over the impregnable city of Jerusalem and played a major role in helping David, who had fled from King Saul, become king of Israel again. Also, when Absalom is about to kill David, he is on David's side and plays a key role in restoring his kingdom.
However, over time, Joab also disobeys David's orders. He kills the generals Abner and Amaziah, whom David had told him not to kill. Also, when there is a problem of succession to the throne, Joab does not stand on the side of Solomon, whom David has decided, but rather on the side of Adonijah and opposes David. Eventually, he dies when Solomon becomes king. He died because he had lost his passion for David.
The most important thing for us today is the passion of faith. We are worshiping now, but if the passion of faith disappears from within us, we are not serving God properly. When the blood vessels harden, the person dies. When the passion of faith disappears from us, our faith becomes solid and we die in faith. Look back on yourself.
It is when the zeal of faith burns when we hear the voice of our allegiance for the Lord. But there is always a little voice among us that is always trying to bring us back into the world. When the voice of the Lord is hard to hear and a small voice is heard in us, the passion of faith is dying. Only when we come to our senses and live a proper life of faith can we overcome the low tones and small sounds that come into us. When the passion of faith cools, this voice that is trying to bring us into this world is heard loudly within us.
When the passion of faith disappears, we become failures. We should not be satisfied with coming to church on Sunday, but the passion of faith for Jesus must be aroused within us every day. The church is where we find the passion of our lost faith. And it's time for great worship. We believe that the Lord will give us grace as we come with a prepared heart and worship diligently. I pray that you will serve the Lord diligently with the passion of faith, your only life. Today, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will become victorious with the help of the Holy Spirit.
