Content: Passion/Mark 12:28-34
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength… ” (Mark 12:28-34)
What is it like to live well in this world? It is living to the best of your ability and making good use of your environment. Passion is absolutely necessary for that. But when you think about this passion, the most important thing is what your passion is for. The purpose of this passion must be clear. Passion for work is important, but passion for God must come first. Rather than just working hard to lead a life of faith, you will enjoy greater joy when you are able to live a life of faith with a passionate heart and joy.
A scribe appears, who has already heard the Sadducees and Jesus' argument. Because the Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection, they were bitten by the resurrection. The scribe asks Jesus. "Jesus! What is the first of all the commands?" At the end of their argument, the Lord says: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself There is no greater commandment than these." Then he said, "It is better to do this than to go out with a sacrifice." It is because the passionate passion of love for God that bursts out from within, rather than simply a conscious act, overcomes everything.
Our Jesus is full of passion. When Jesus entered the temple, when he saw people buying and selling and money changers in the temple, he overturned the table and drove them out. Those who sold doves took the chair on which they sat and threw it away. Jesus' passion was not for his own greed, but for God. That burning passion made Jesus carry out his mission. Today we too must live with that passion. We have to live our lives with a passionate passion to love God and win.
