Title: Passionate person/Numbers 14:4-10
Content Passionate person / Numbers 14:4-10
Key Verse: “Do not fear the people of the land, for they are our bread” (verse 9).
Word: During the World Cup, you may have heard singer Yoon Do-hyun’s ‘Pilseung Korea’ song. When other singers and entertainers become a little famous, they appear on various entertainment programs and try to make their faces known by showing off their talents and wit. However, Yoon Do-hyun is not obsessed with popularity and only sings honestly. Healthy honesty. And every time he sings, he sings it passionately as if it were the last song he sang in his life. Anyone who sees his performance can feel the energy radiating passionately. It is fun to meet passionate people, even if they have different fields of view and different ideas and professions in society. You will learn and feel a lot.
In today's Bible, Joshua and Caleb are passionate people. Because he introduced the vision of the future to the people. “The land we went through and searched for was a very good land” (verse 7).
Learning by theory or hearing from others does not generate enthusiasm. They stepped directly on the ground. I actually went and experienced it for 40 days. Therefore, I was able to persuade the people with enthusiasm. Passion cannot be conveyed through tabletop discussion. You have to run and walk and tread.
Joshua and Caleb's passion came from trusting in God. Verse 8 reveals their confession of faith. “If the Lord is pleased with us,” he said, “he will bring us to the earth and give it to us.” Verse 9 says, “The Lord is with us.” Because of this confession of faith, the two formed a passionate team and gave the people a message of hope. Do you trust God? Mission Impossible, there is nothing impossible to accomplish. It has spiritual energy and can create a lively atmosphere in people.
Joshua and Caleb did not give in to the majority and had confidence. “Do not be afraid of the people of the land” (verse 9). A characteristic of a passionate person is a challenge. There is a proverb in the Middle East that “no matter how good the land is, if it shines with sunlight, it becomes a desert”. Wouldn't it be nice if there were no challenges or exams? Maybe spiritually our hearts will dry up like a desert. Opposition, difficulties and tribulations make us stronger. The other spies who objected were not able to enter the land of Canaan. Joshua and Caleb, passionate men, entered Canaan and took possession of a large land. This confident report left a great impression on the hearts of Joshua and Caleb. It was a great strength to Moses and Aaron, who were in trouble and had no choice but to bow before the people (verse 5). Moses later made Joshua a leader for good reason. Not because of passion.
Prayer: The weather is cold. Make us people of burning passion. I want to have the passion to melt those who are spiritually cold and ignite a fire in the cold. I pray in the name of Jesus who loves me. Amen.
