Patriotism of the Saints (Daniel 6:10)

Introduction

According to the Bible, the forefathers of faith loved the country a lot.

Therefore, believers should follow the example of our ancestors and practice patriotism.

This morning, we would like to share our grace by examining how the Sunjin was patriotic.

1. Moses

Moses gave up his life in Egypt, where he abused his people, and preferred to suffer with his people.

Hebrews 11:24-25 says, "By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, and preferred to suffer with God's people (his people) rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a while “He said.

Since Moses became the son of Pharaoh's daughter, a princess, if he lived in Egypt, he could succeed Pharaoh as king, or become a dignitary, and live happily ever after.

However, while he was preparing for the future with the vision that one day he would live for his people, he saw his people being abused by the Egyptians, and his anger grew so intense that he could not bear it, so he killed the Egyptians and buried them in the sand. .

This fact was known by the traitor's own people, so he fled far away to Midian, buried himself in the wilderness for 40 years, tending sheep, waiting for God's time. At the age of 80, God called him to be the leader of the nation of Israel. led to

Therefore, Moses was the greatest leader and patriot who was most used for the people of Israel in the Old Testament era (see Exodus 2 - Deuteronomy 34).

2. Samuel

Samuel was a prophet, priest, and last judge of the Old Testament, patriotic using "prayer" as a tool.

In 1 Samuel 7, when the people of Israel, their people, committed the sin of disobedience before God, the ark of the law was taken from the Philistines, their territory was taken away, and they were living in fear of threats all the time. They offered and prayed to deliver the nation of Israel from the Philistines.

When Samuel cried out and prayed for his people, God sent a great thunderstorm to the Philistines, and they were disturbed, so they were defeated, and the Israeli army pursued them from Mizpah down to Bethgar, and struck down the Philistines and destroyed them.

1 Samuel 7:13 says, "The Philistines did not enter the territory of Israel any more, and the hand of the LORD stopped the Philistines all the days of Samuel's life."

In this way, the prophet Samuel prayed for patriotism.

According to 1 Samuel 12:23,

He said, "I will never commit the sin of ceasing to pray for you (your people) before the Lord, and I will teach you in the good and righteous way (the Word of God)."

The prophet Samuel preached patriotism by teaching the people the word of God and praying for them without ceasing.

3. Nehemiah

Nehemiah was a dignitary who was favored by the king as a wine cupbearer at Shushan Palace in Babylon.

But I heard from a brother that the remnant living in Judah who escaped the Babylonian captivity suffered tribulation and reproach, the city of Jerusalem was destroyed, and the gates were burned.

When Nehemiah heard this news, he sat down, wept and mourned for several days, fasted before God in heaven, and prayed for repentance for the people of Israel day and night instead.

After receiving the permission of King Artaxerxes, he returned to his home country, built a ruined castle, and repented of corruption and bad debts, and carried out social reforms that indemnified the debtors who were suffering from debt (see Nehemiah 1-5).

4. Jeremiah

The prophet Jeremiah prayed with great sorrow and urged the people of Judah to repent when the southern kingdom of Judah fell to the Babylonians around 587 B.C. and many people and the king were taken captive.

1) I grieved for my country

According to Lamentations 1:1-2,

“It is a pity, this city used to have many inhabitants, but now it sits so quietly. The former great among the nations is now like a widow, and the former princess among the nations is now a tribute payer. Tears stream down my cheeks as I mourn all night long. There is no comforter among those he loved, and all his friends have betrayed him and have become enemies.

Lamentations 2:1 says,

"Alas, how wrath is the Lord, that he hath covered the virgin Zion with a cloud, and hath cast down the good things of Israel from heaven to the earth; in the day of his wrath he did not remember her footstool."

Lamentations 4:1 says,

“It is sad how the gold has lost its luster, and the pure gold has changed, and the stones of the sanctuary are poured out on the heads of every street.”

Jeremiah mourned for the nation.

2) I prayed with many tears.

Lamentations 2:11 says,

"My eyes are broken with tears, my intestines are cut off, my liver is poured out on the ground, because my virgins and my people are destroyed, and the little ones and the sucklings are confused in the streets of the city."

Lamentations 3:8 says,

“I cry out for help, but you reject my prayers.”

According to Lamentations 3:48-49,

"Tears flow in my eyes like brooks, for the destruction of the virgin and my people. The tears in my eyes do not cease to flow and do not cease."

I prayed countless times with tears.

3) He urged the people to repent.

Lamentations 3:40 - "Let us examine ourselves, and return to the LORD."

Lamentations 3:41 - Let us lift up our hearts and hands to God in heaven."

5. Daniel

Daniel was the chief minister of the Babylonian kingdom, but he never forgot his own country.

He opened the window facing Jerusalem three times a day and prayed for the country.

Since the people who framed Daniel could not find fault with Daniel, they offered to bribe King Darius and seduce him to make and promulgate a ban in which if he asked anything from a god or person other than the king, he would be thrown into the lions' den to be eaten by lions.

Although he was the king who liked Daniel, he did not know that Daniel was a man of prayer, so the king stamped a seal on the decree and proclaimed it to the people.

Daniel knew that this proclamation was a plot to kill him, but he was grateful and, as he had done before, opened the window toward Jerusalem, knelt down and prayed one day.

As a result, Daniel was thrown into the lions' den, but God sent messengers to protect Daniel, and those who framed Daniel were thrown into the lions' den, even their wives and wives. (Daniel 6:1-27)

6. Paul

Paul loved his people as much as his life.

According to Romans 9:3,

He said, "For the sake of my brothers (his people), my kinsmen of flesh, even if I myself be cursed and cut off from Christ, I wish."

conclusion

Dear brothers and sisters, if we lose our country, we lose everything.

During the 36 years of Japanese rule, our ancestors were deprived of freedom, speech, writing, ideas, beliefs, surnames, names, families, children (sons are conscripted to the battlefield and daughters are captured), agricultural products, property, and even tableware. Many lives have been killed and schools and churches burned down and closed?

If we lose our country, we can neither keep nor own anything.

Therefore, there is a state and I am.

Our believers, like the forefathers of faith, must take the lead in patriotism and love for people more than anyone else.

So, how should we be patriotic?

1. We must pray for patriotism.

We must pray for the President, government officials, and economic stability and growth, social order and stability, education, and development in all other fields.

Believers should encourage and pray for support before slandering the rulers.

2. We must do patriotism through evangelism.

This nation and this nation are worshiping too many idols and demons. This is utter nonsense. You must repent and believe in God in order to receive great blessings from God, the source of blessing, and to live well.

The more this nation is evangelized, the more it can become a better country to live in proportionately.

Therefore, we must evangelize this nation by diligently evangelizing in the field of life.

3. You must be sincere in the given task.

Even if it is not a grandiose method, if all the people do their best in a given task and are honest and honest, corruption and derailment will disappear and the country will become stronger, stronger, and a better place to live. (Students, housewives, office workers, public officials, businessmen)
