Contents Paul's exhortation/Colossians 2:6-7
2. Paul's exhortation (2:6-7)
Verse 6: Therefore, since you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him***
“Therefore” carries on the words mentioned in verse 5 about the strong faith of the early Christians in Jesus Christ.
The word “received” is an apostolic tradition, meaning that Christians have received it from generation to generation.
We Christians need to clarify Christology
Because we will be saved through Jesus Christ, the core of the gospel.
When your relationship with Jesus is not right, the path of faith is bound to go wrong.
Therefore, we must rely only on Christ and do not deviate from that path, but only follow Christ.
Verse 7: Rooted and built up in him, steadfast in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving***
The first is a life rooted in Christ.
Just as a tree must take root to not only stand upright but also to have influence, so a Christian must have a proper spiritual union with Christ
Second - a life built on Christ
Just as a building must have a strong foundation to stand firm, so a Christian can also build upon the saving power of Jesus Christ.
must be based
Third - a life that solidifies the teaching through Christ.
The Christian must establish without frivolity the precepts spoken by the Lord.
Fourth - a life full of gratitude
The outward sign of a Christian is a life of gratitude
True gratitude comes from the heart, transcending circumstances and conditions.
