Title: Paul's Discourse to Governor Felix
Bible: Acts 24:24 - 27
2010.3.14. afternoon
Still, with the help of the governor, Paul was able to stay in prison without threat to his life. While enjoying relative freedom, I was able to meet friends.
1. Governor Felix Appearing Before Paul
A few days later the governor called Paul. I wanted to hear more about it. But in reality, he was more willing to take a bribe. appeared with his wife. His wife was Drusilla, a Jewish woman. I don't know how he got a Jewish woman, but maybe it's a local wife. But it was God's grace that softened the governor's heart.
No matter how difficult our prison-like life is, we hope that God will change our lives as long as we never get discouraged and endure and persevere. And I believe that no matter how bad people are to me, if God intervenes, I will turn them into good people.
2. Apostle Paul preaching the gospel
The Apostle Paul preached the gospel in front of the governor. Its core was righteousness, temperance, and the judgment to come.
* Righteousness - People must have always preached that they should avoid injustice and live justly and rightly. Where does righteousness come from? It does not come from earthly morals, not from worldly laws, but only from God. He must have emphasized that it is the duty of a governor and a leader to rule over the people to keep God's laws.
* Temperance-All authority in the world comes from God, so do not abuse that power and always use it to help the poor on the weak side.
* God's Judgment - This world will surely come to an end and the kingdom of God will come. At that time, God will surely judge us through our lives on earth. Also, when I leave this world and stand before God before the end of the world, God will judge our lives. Therefore, they would have asked to believe in God and receive Jesus Christ and live for the glory of God.
What is my belief? Are you proudly preaching the gospel in front of anyone? Or are you afraid to preach the gospel in front of worldly authorities?
Prisoner and governor-Paul the apostle was not at all afraid of it. It didn't matter whether it was a prison or a palace, as long as the gospel could be preached.
“For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
3. The fearful governor
The governor, who listened to Paul's sermon, was rather afraid. He was terrified as he presented the judgments of God and the events of the afterlife that were full of confidence as if he were seeing them now. But the governor refused to listen any further. I don't know my heart when the evil one is taking hold I couldn't adjust myself. And he was rather trying to avoid it.
Delivering blessings often happens in the field of evangelism. Furthermore, they will not hesitate to suffer persecution, but do not take it as a strange thing; it is normal.
4. The governor who frequently called the apostle Paul
After that, Governor Felix frequently called the apostle Paul to chat with each other. However, Berix's heart was not to hear the gospel, but to receive some money through the apostle Paul. But the apostle Paul had no choice but to give the gospel, because silver and gold I do not have;
Of all the helping neighbors, how is it most beneficial?
We help with our minds and our hearts, but the greatest help is sharing the gospel and helping us go to heaven. Therefore, thank you for those who have evangelized you. Also, I hope that we too can now actively preach the gospel to those we love so that they can be saved.
5. Two years pass.
Two years passed in an instant since the apostle Paul was imprisoned in Caesarea Philippi. How frustrated was the heart of the apostle Paul? But when God does not open the way, we have to be patient and wait. Considering his disposition, how much thought must he have wanted to preach the gospel? But we have to wait until God's sign comes down.
It seems like two years have been wasted, but God is telling us to wait. It is to prepare for the next work while gaining rest in mind and body.
When we live our faith life, we must be careful not to go ahead of God and not to go too far behind God. It is ideal to go one step at a time, only keeping pace with God.
