Paul's Mission in Corinth
Acts 18 chapters 1-11
It is said that Paul moved from Athens to Corinth and stayed there for about a year and six months to evangelize. Today, at this time, I would like to share grace with you through the content of Paul's missionary work in Corinth, relying on the text.
Look at verses 1 and 11 first.
If we say that Athens is a god of idols, we can say that Corinth is a city of lewdness.
It is the center and birthplace of Aden's politics, philosophy and art. But Corinth, about 70 kilometers from Athens, was a city of commerce and trade, symbolizing debauchery, pleasure, material things, and sexual immorality.
At that time, Corinth was a corrupt city to the extent that people from Corinth were called prostitutes.
Paul came to Corinth in this way.
Today's text allows God to meet Paul's co-workers, who went to Corinth.
Dear saints,
The gospel is not preached alone. God always allows you to meet God's people, and to be with them
By making them work together, he spreads the gospel. How did Paul preach the gospel in Corinth for a year and six months? The first people Paul met are in verses 2-3.
Aquila's name appears first in this text, but Priscilla and Aquila appear in other biblical texts.
She had a great zeal for the gospel, and she and her husband were devoted to the gospel.
They were Jews and were living in Rome. However, according to the decree of Claudius, he had to leave Rome. About 49-50 AD they left Rome to serve the Lord in Corinth.
They are people who have a living and are dedicated to the ministry. The church needs more than just full-time clergy and professionals
The saints should also come out with a lot of people like Burschilla and Aquila.
I hope that our church will also be blessed with such devotions,
Look at verse 4.
Paul worked in a tent factory from Monday to Saturday and preached the gospel to Jews and Greeks in the synagogue on the Sabbath. We, too, must have a passion for preaching the Gospel like this.
We need a passion to spread the gospel wherever we go. Not just believing in yourself, nurturing someone else
You must have a passion for the gospel to care for.
We need to ask ourselves these questions here. Does the gospel work for a profession?
Do you have a job for gospel ministry? Does God exist for educating children? Are you educating your children for God? Most of us need God for our own health.
Sometimes it seems that we need God for the blessings of our profession and the success of our personal affairs.
There are many times when my job takes precedence over God.
Of course, the profession is sacred and important. But that job is not everything in life. These goals should be clear. We must first realize what the purpose of God's job is for us.
We must realize clearly that we do not exist for the sake of our profession, but for God.
But what is clear is that our profession, our marriage, everything in our lives is for the glory of God. These priorities should not change.
