Title: Peace Like Dew
Text: Zechariah 8:11-13
The theme for the second Sunday of Advent is “Peace”.
It contains the confession of Jesus Christ who will come as the 'Lord of Peace'.
Jesus Christ is the Lord of Peace.
The word “peace” in Hebrew is “Shalom!”
In Korean, it is peace and peace, but the word “hello” has the same meaning.
Speaking of fish, hallelujah is like a head
Amen is compared to the tail of a fish.
I've said that body "Shalom" many times.
Check out today's text.
“Thus says the LORD of hosts,
Now I will not deal with this remnant people as I did before” (verse 11).
The whirlwind of war and the fall of Jerusalem,
To this people who have suffered calamities like the calamity of the temple burning and the storm,
God promises after the Babylonian captivity.
You are saying amazing things.
“Soon you will have a peaceful harvest.
The vine will bear fruit, the earth will yield its produce, and the sky will send its dew.
I will make this remnant people enjoy all these things... ” (verse 12)
You must know the meaning of “a peaceful harvest”.
Even after harvesting or receiving a salary, there are many cases where they are not at peace.
Some people find it harder to get a paycheck.
Paying off debt, paying tuition, paying taxes...
That's right.
God is now speaking of a harvest of peace, not anxiety, worry, and worry.
It's not comfortable.
It is peace.
dew from the sky
Peaceful harvest!
That's right.
To restored Israel, God promises a “peaceful harvest.”
He promises to enjoy all these things through “the dew of heaven.”
I pray that “peace as dew” fills you who believe in the Lord.
How important and gracious dew, there must have been a heresy disguised as dew.
The important thing The precious thing is fake, it interferes, and tries to fade with it.
Yeongsaenggyo, where the believers were buried secretly while chanting “Holy dew”
People like the headmaster, my grandmother, are a prime example.
Please do not be deceived.
We must know the Bible properly.
The Bible promises “peace as dew”.
1. The dew falls at night.
This fact is also emphasized in Job's confession (Job 29:19).
The dew falls at night.
“My roots extend out into the water, and my branches are soaked with dew all night.”
on a difficult night
It is the dew that falls at dawn when the darkness is the most severe (Numbers 11:9).
“When the dew fell on the camp at night, the manna fell with it.”
That's right.
In difficult times, we meet the Lord.
When we are weak and sick, we long for the Lord and seek Him.
This is especially true when human strength cannot help.
When you are tired, when you are in pain, when you are hungry, when you are thirsty,
Dew falls.
When we meet, we get off together.
Do not be afraid of tribulation or suffering.
God promises.
In the age of Israel's judges who suffered from the Midianites, God called Gideon.
And he showed the presence of God with the falling dew (Judges 6:37-40).
“Behold, I will lay a bale of wool on the threshing floor.
When the dew is only on the fleece, and the ground dries on all sides,
I know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have already said.
I did and it happened
The next day Gideon got up early, took the wool, and squeezed the dew, and the bowl was full of water.
Gideon said to God again,
Lord, do not be angry with me. I will only tell you this time.
Please, let me try once more with the wool.
Let only the fleece be dry, and let there be dew on all the ground on all sides.
God did just that that night: only the wool was dry, and there was dew all around the ground.”
The dew that convinced Gideon was also the dew that fell during the night.
Don't be afraid of exams.
Do not be afraid of pain or tribulation.
Now, Jesus has come to us, the Lord of peace like the dew
The Holy Spirit like dew will come upon us.
2. Dew makes fruit.
“The dew falls and bears fruit.”
It sounds like something I don't understand.
But it is true.
Just like the dewy fruit is sweet and savory
Our lives should be overflowing with dewy peace.
Isaac also wishes Jacob “the dew of heaven” to be abundant.
“God is the dew of heaven and the fatness of the earth,
I want to give you abundant grain and wine” (Genesis 27:28).
Jehovah God, who fed Israel in the wilderness for 40 years,
He gave manna through the dew.
Check the Bible.
Exodus 16:13-14.
“In the evening quails came and covered the camp, and in the morning dew was all around the camp.
After the dew had dried, there was something small and round on the surface of the wilderness, as fine as frost.”
After the dew dried in the wilderness, there was manna in the wilderness.
Isaiah confesses.
The dew of the Lord even raises the dead (Isaiah 26:19).
“Thy dead will rise, and our corpses will rise.
You who dwell in the dust
Awake and sing; the dew of the Lord is the shining dew, and the earth will give up the dead.”
3. Quiet. It's calm. It's peaceful.
But most importantly, our Lord who has come as the Lord of Peace!
He will come to this earth in peace and pour out that beautiful peace on us.
There is an image of the word peace.
It is not an image like a shower.
Not even a storm or a gale.
It is far from talking about the fiery Holy Spirit and the grace of showers.
It's not temporary.
But this word peace is the exact opposite of images like showers, fire, and storms.
It is a gentle, gentle and calm atmosphere.
There is no sound.
It's quiet.
It even gives a moist feeling.
Dew makes no sound.
God's peace and joy come silently to us.
No fuss. Rather quiet.
I am not anxious. I am thrilled.
Not violent. It is gentle.
It's not rough. Rather soft.
It is moist.
The source of life is right here.
“The wrath of a king is like the roar of a lion, and his benefits are like dew on the grass.”
It is the dew of grace that is distinct from the cry of a lion (Proverbs 19:12).
The dew falls secretly.
I didn't know it was falling, but the dew has already fallen.
It is the grace of God.
Such is the grace that is poured out upon us.
Both lilies and cedars need “secret dew” (Hos 14:5).
“I will be like the dew to Israel; he will bloom like the lilies,
It will take root like the cedars of Lebanon.”
Don't be fooled by what you see.
Let's not fall for the swelling.
Just as trees grow with silent dew, so do we.
You will have to mature while enjoying the dew-like peace.
So, what does spiritual dew mean?
(1) Dew is declared “the word of the Lord God” (Deuteronomy 32:2).
“My lesson is the rain
My words are the falling dew
It is rain on soft grass, and it is rain on vegetables.”
(2) Dew is “the young men who consecrate themselves in holy clothes” (Psalm 110:3).
“In the day of your power, your people rejoice and consecrate themselves in holy garments.
Your youth, like the morning dew, come to you.”
(3) The dew is “Jesus Christ, who has come as the Lord of peace on this earth” (Luke 2:14).
“Glory to God in the highest,
On earth there is peace among those with whom he is pleased.”
Jesus on the cross
by offering himself as a sacrifice
By sacrificing as the morning dew for the fruits of salvation and resurrection
He has allowed the ‘fruit of peace’ to you, people of faith.
I pray in the name of the Lord that “peace like dew” overflows more and more on the faith of the saints.
