Peace be with you 2. (John 20:10-23)
I celebrated Easter last week. How has Easter changed your heart and your life? Did you find joy? Did you receive a mission as a gift? Have you received the Holy Spirit? Have you been given the power to forgive?
If there is no change, is it not that we have not yet met the Lord of the Resurrection or lack the certainty of resurrection?
On the second Sunday of Easter, I hope you receive the joy and mission of the Resurrection and the filling of the Holy Spirit.
What should I do? You must believe in the resurrection to have joy.
Dr. Francis Schaefer, a Christian apologist
I had a TV discussion with a young American theologian about the resurrection of Jesus.
Dr. Schaefer asked the young theologian [Do you believe in the resurrection?
The young theologian clearly said he believed.
Do you again believe that Dr. Schaeffer actually died and rose again the third day?]
When asked, Do you believe the Resurrection was a historical and real event? the young theologian hesitated.
Does it matter? What is meaningful to us is not the historicity of the resurrection, but the lessons it gives.
It's about getting up from despair," he replied.
Dr. Schaeffer said that if the young theologian had not had a resurrection event,
There can be no lesson or meaning to it.
Because there are no lessons to be learned from events that did not exist. said it clearly.
What is important in the Resurrection is whether the event actually existed historically.
Do you believe in Jesus? Do you believe in Jesus, who overcame sin and death and rose from the dead three days later? Please believe it.
Some people believe in God... I believe in God the Creator... They say they cannot believe that Jesus came to the world as a human, lived, was crucified, and rose from the dead three days later.
Such a person does not believe in God the Creator.
Resurrection is not an idea.
It was Peter who shouted out that he would risk his life to follow Jesus.
But when Jesus was arrested, tried, and crucified
Peter's words and actions before Jesus were very pathetic and cowardly.
He denied knowing Jesus three times.
There was nothing that Peter could expect as a disciple of Jesus.
But when Peter met the resurrected Jesus, it was different.
In Acts chapter 1, we see Peter at a gathering of 120 people.
He takes the lead in filling the vacancy in Judas Iscariot (Acts 1:15~26).
Peter was qualified to be an apostle
“He who will bear witness with us of the resurrection of Jesus” (Acts 1:22).
said definitively. It is clearly defined that the 'evidence of the resurrection of Jesus' is the focus of the apostolate.
There are people who do not know how to testify of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Because the qualifications of an apostle are "to testify of the resurrection of Jesus."
Peter, who betrayed 'does not know Jesus', said that Jesus, who was publicly executed on the cross, has risen from the dead (Acts 2:22-36), and said, "Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Acts 2:21) I cried out.
Peter's cry about the resurrection of Jesus was convincing evidence.
resurrected body of jesus
The resurrected Jesus obviously had 'flesh' and 'bones',
He also ate fish with his disciples (Luke 24:39-43). But there is something to be clear about.
The resurrected body of Jesus was not exactly the same as his pre-resurrection body.
The resurrected Jesus just entered the locked door (John 20:19,26),
“On that day, on the evening of the first day after the Sabbath, the disciples were afraid of the Jews.
When the doors were shut in the assembly place, Jesus came and stood in the middle, saying,
'Peace be with you!' (KJV John 20:19)
The following translation was better than the New Version of the Bible, "They shut the doors."
On that day, on the evening of the first day of the week, the disciples were hanging all the doors shut because they were afraid of the Jews. Then Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" and greeted
On the evening of the day after the Sabbath, the disciples gathered in a house and locked all the doors because they were afraid of the Jews. Then Jesus came in and stood in the midst of them, saying, "Peace be with you!" and greeted
In the evening of the same day, the disciples were gathering together. The disciples locked the door because they were afraid of the Jews. There Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
On that day, the first evening of the week, the disciples were gathered together with the doors locked because they were afraid of the Jews. Then Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
The disciples locked the door, but Jesus entered it.
And he ascended to heaven without any equipment (Acts 1:9).
The resurrected body of Jesus was not limited by space.
You are not governed by the laws of nature or the laws of gravity.
Some said that Jesus just went in even though the door was locked.
about the fact that he ascended to heaven without any equipment
They say it is unscientific and impossible.
But people who think like that are really ignorant people.
Einstein believed that there could be a four-dimensional or higher temporal space.
clearly showed.
In principle, it is sufficiently possible for a four-dimensional being to travel through three-dimensional spacetime.
It is clear that no matter how advanced science
There are many things that science cannot solve. There are many things that science does not know.
We can't know it all, we can't understand it
We must remember that the body of the resurrected Jesus was different from our present body.
“So is the resurrection of the dead; it is sown in corruption, it is raised in immortality; it is sown in disgrace, it is raised in glory; There is one body” (1 Corinthians 15:42-44).
Resurrection as a historical fact
The Resurrection is a historical fact, not a myth.
In 2 Peter 1:16 it says, "It was not according to cleverly crafted stories that we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we ourselves have seen his majesty" (2 Peter 1:16).
The resurrection of Christ is central to our gospel.
The central content of the Apostles' Creed, in which we confess our faith every week, is the resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus appeared to millions of people, demonstrating his resurrection.
1 Corinthians 15:6 says, “After that, he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at once, of which he
