Title: Peace from the Lord
Text: Numbers 6:22-27, John 20:19-23
'There are two kinds of fear. One is the noble fear (awe) that is the result of faith, and the other is the evil fear (fear, the product of doubt and distrust). The former leads to hope by making people believe and depend on God, and the latter leads to despair by not believing and not relying on God. The words of Pascal (A.D. 1623-1662), a 17th-century French mathematician, physicist, inventor, philosopher and theologian. Like the apostle Paul (Romans 7:24), he also worried about the world and humans. It presupposes the same as the Chimera, a monster in Greek mythology, and says, “Be humble!” ‘Listen to God!’ Like the apostle Paul, he reveals his religious experience. He reveals how he overcame the fear he had to face as a human being. It was November 23, 1654.
'From about 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., the flash (shekinah), the God of philosophers and intellectuals, not the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, assurance, assurance, feeling, joy, peace, Jesus Christ. The God of.....Jesus Christ...Please never leave me from him.' He sewed this phrase on his collar like the Shema of the nation of Israel (Deuteronomy 6:4-9). It was God's declaration that appeared in the flames of the bush of Horeb. It was the answer he gave to Moses when he asked the name of the God who commanded the Exodus and sent him to Egypt. It means ‘the God of your ancestors’, that is, He is the God who is present in human history (Exodus 3:15). It is the name of God who is personally with His people and the field of life. It also speaks of the presence of God that transcends time and space.
When did human fear begin? It was from the Garden of Eden. It was when God was walking in the garden and looked for Adam, who did not appear. ‘Where are you?’ (Genesis 3:9). “I heard the voice of God in the garden, and I was afraid and hid because I was naked” (Genesis 3:4). It was the result of a crime. ‘Because I was naked’ was an excuse. It is because the appearance before the crime was the same (Genesis 2:25). At that time they were both naked, but there was no shame, let alone fear. That fear is exacerbated with the sin of murder outside of Eden. It was the result of the sin committed after the failed sacrifice. Fear of being killed, they run away even though no one is pursuing them (Genesis 4:14). Peace is the third of the blessings that God gives and is also called the sum total of blessings (Numbers 6:26).
The blessing that Jesus Christ, who came to this earth as “good news of great joy that will come to all the people” (Luke 2:10), gave His people, was also peace. It is the blessing of the Lord who has completed redemption on the cross (John 19:30) and has risen. This is the content of today's New Testament text (John 20:19-23). “Peace be with you” (John 20:19,21). It was a grace that transcended the usual content of greetings that the Hebrews exchanged in daily life. Because it is the blessing of the Lord who accomplished redemption on the cross. 1) It is the peace that casts out all fear. 2) Peace through the forgiveness of sins. 3) It is a peace that will not be taken away. This is a story in which the work of the Holy Spirit is mentioned together. It is the word of peace that comes with the presence of the Holy Spirit, the Counselor (John 14:16,17) who will be with the saints forever (John 14:26,27). It is the peace related to God's unbreakable love (John 10:27-29; Romans 8:31-39).
