peace in the country
(2 Chronicles 14:1-8)
As yesterday is the 64th Liberation Day, I will speak with the title of “Peace in the Country” thinking about today. I am not a political person, but I have the idea that sermons about the country must be preached on verses 3.1, 6.25, Constitution Day, and Liberation Day. This is because there is a thought that the nation’s view of the saints should become the future of the Republic of Korea, and that the country that Christians pray for should become the future Korea.(…) Today’s text is about the nation during the reign of King Asa, the third king of the southern kingdom of Judah. It is said that he was peaceful and that the people were at peace.(…) The Bible repeatedly says that he was “peaceful” during his 35 years of reign. It is said that his country is at peace.
① Why should the country be at peace?
God wants it. There is a saying called Patriotic Christianity. True Christianity is to love the people of the country, wish for national peace, and strive for the stability of national sovereignty. The peace of the country means that the people's lives are mentally, politically and economically stable. In other words, we must be patriotic and patriotic, and strive for the prosperity, well-being, order and peace of our country. Why should we love and protect our country? ㉠ The origin of the country comes from God. ㉡ All existing nations are provided under God's own sovereignty. ㉢ This is because all the nations on this earth become the stage of God’s redemptive history of redemption who saves the elect. (…) All the nations of this earth will receive the grace of God’s redemption, so we must love our nation.
② A nation's peace is achieved when leaders and people seek God.
The text tells us that the leaders and the people sought God. What does it mean to find God? ㉠ Pray to the God of the covenant and keep the commandments of the ordinances. ㉡ Eliminate idols and other gods from all parts of Judah. ㉢The king and the people obeyed the prophet's words. ㉣ I took advantage of the time of peace. The people did not waste the time of peace with self-indulgence, slander and attitude, but used the time of peace to make the country strong and wealthy. This is the story of Asa and his people seeking God (…) As a result, God brought peace to the nation.
③ The country should be at peace.
(…) There must be no more oppression from other countries, and there must be no more 6.25 fraternities. (…) We Christians must establish peace with evangelicalism. Ki-deuk Christians should live by the word of God and work hard for the peace of the country. The rulers and the people must seek God. Prayers waiting for God's help should be intense. We must break down idols and superstitions and sincerely listen to God's Word. We must find peace in God's will. Only then will the land be preserved and the sovereignty of the nation will be strengthened when we seek God, and the people will be at peace. Amen.
