Title: Peace Through Emptying - Summer Retreat
At the retreat, I was asked to speak on the topic of "peace" and I answered it in a haphazard way, but I never knew that the word peace would be so unfamiliar. I've seen words like "peace treaty", "peaceful reunification", and "peaceful heart" a lot, but when I tried to talk about my personal peace, I had nothing to say. When I thought about the reason, I realized that in my 58 years of life, there was not much time when I was at peace. I have always thought that my lack of peace was due to external conditions. So I called the people who upset me bad people. Jesus said to love your enemies too...
However, as I read the words of Jesus (the Bible) and the writings of Master Yoo Young-mo, I realized that I was already ready to be angry in my heart, ready to hate, and perfectly prepared to be jealous and jealous. How can I expect peace in my heart when I can't serve, I can't humble myself, I can't be honest, I can't give up my greed, I can't, and I have the evil nature of a human being?
When I got older and started school, everything about me started to be ranked. It ranks among a few people, by the number of points, by the number of points, by the number of points, by the army, when shooting, when cantering, by individual, by squad, by company. After appearing in society, the high score, sales score, genealogy score, and Abu score are combined to promote up to a few ranks, and drop out from a few ranks. I didn't want to see it this way, so I started a business, and at the end of the year, it was ranked again in the top few in the same industry. Even now, if I go to a branch manager's meeting once a month, I will be judged by how many sales last month, etc. As a result, friends, colleagues, and neighbors all become competitors. Even so, they greet each other warmly and shake hands. Teacher Yoo Young-mo said that all shaking hands were false and false. He said that it was real only when he was transformed into God's Erna and had fellowship with Erna. It was said to be eternal life.
Looking at the historical fact that the celestial body has never been at peace since the beginning of the earth's history, it seems that it is not easy to achieve peace. It is truly a pity that the war continues between nations and nations, between religions and between religions, and between nations and nations. After the resurrection, Jesus appeared to his disciples and said, "Peace be with you" (John 20:19, 20:26), so you can see how precious it is to enjoy peace. Among the writings of Kwon Jeong-saeng, there is this article:
Only when we know that the blood of Christ becomes my blood and my blood becomes the blood of my neighbor, and that mankind are connected by one blood, will peace be possible. No one person or a few great people can make peace. However, there is only one way for mankind to return to the original human beings together in the image of God, share warm affection and live. Isn't it the saints of this age who live with such warm affection?
It seems to be saying that peace can only come when individuals and individuals, nations and nations, and nations and nations realize that they are brothers and sisters in God's providence of love. But before that, if I do not have peace, we will not have peace, and if we do not have peace, the world will not be at peace.
When I entered elementary school, it was right after the end of the Korean War, so the family who ate three meals a day was really wealthy. At that time, even as a child, if I could only eat meat soup with white rice for three days a day, I couldn't wish for any more. But what about now? (I'm sorry for the poor neighbors who can't earn money because of disability or sickness) Many people get or suffer from adult diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, and heart disease because they consume too many calories and ride only in their own car (lack of exercise). The probability is said to have increased. Living in a nice house, wearing nice clothes, driving a good car, in a good location, but not having peace in people's hearts?
In the writings of Monk Jungkwang, it is said that if humans do not give up their greed, jin, and chi, they will never be able to escape the pain of beings. It seems that the more you have, the higher you get, the more distant you will be from peace of mind. It reminds me of the saying, ?쏻hat will it profit me if I gain the whole world and lose my soul???(Matthew 16:26). Also, Beopbeop's saying that if you give up everything you can gain everything, "He who finds his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it" (Matthew 10:39). The more we throw away, the more we empty, the more our hearts can be filled with joy and peace. Finally, I would like to conclude by introducing one of the articles of Master Beop.
In mountain temples without fences, they are sometimes robbed. One night, a night visitor came to a secluded hermitage. North-sama, who can't sleep at night, was on his way to Jeong-Rang, and heard a call from the back. A man was groaning as he put his luggage in the garage and tried to get up and not to get up. Although he scooped out a bag of rice from the back jug, he couldn't get up because of the power. North-sama went back and pushed him gently when the thief was about to get up again. The thief barely got up and glanced around.
"Don't say anything and go downstairs."
North-sama was rude to the night guests. The next morning, the monks scolded him that a thief had been caught the night before. But Noss didn't say anything. Because he had nothing to lose. - Court, from "Originally Nothingness (?т푺?▽???"
