Title: Pearls in the Bible
Text: Hab 3:16-19, Romans 1:8-17
‘God’s righteousness revealed in the gospel’ is the title given to today’s New Testament text (Romans 1:8-17). Verses 16 and 17 are also key verses of Shin-deuk Lee (Justification by Faith), which is the core of the Christian gospel. “I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. The first is for the Jews. Also to the Greeks. In the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed, from faith to faith, just as it is written, “The righteous will live by faith.” This is the core of the gospel and the truth of salvation that is preached to all people. The 'Gospel' was designed by God (Genesis 3:15), accomplished by Jesus Christ (John 19:30), and the history of redemption interceded by the Holy Spirit (Jn 14:16,17; 16:8). -15) It refers to all things (John 3:16).
It is a history related to the 'original gospel' (Genesis 3:15), which the Creator gave as a solution to sin and its consequences, who witnessed the reality of man who was deceived by Satan and sinned (Genesis 3:7-13). . If the tragedy of Paradise Lost was caused by disbelief in God's love, it is natural that the comedy of Boknagwon was born out of faith in God's love. In this respect, faith is placed in an important place that can be called the condition of the grace of salvation. This is the reason why it is a condition to please God (Hebrews 11:6). This faith is the condition for receiving and enjoying the grace of salvation (gospel) that God has provided. If the ‘gospel’, or the grace of salvation, is the water of life that God has prepared, then ‘faith’, the response we need, is a vessel to receive the water of life and make it our own. Faith becomes the substance of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1).
Faith without the gospel and the gospel without faith both hit the air. Problems have always been on our side. Our faith in God's love for us was, and is, a problem. This is the understanding of ‘belief leads to faith’. God's love for us revealed in the way of the cross (1 Corinthians 1:18-25) is so perfect that it can be called unconditional. Our belief in him is not. That is why faith requires growth and maturation. In the above reference, ‘by faith’ (‘ek pisteos’) means ‘from faith’. It is the faith we confess when we meet Christ (Augustine) It is a basic faith that accepts the gospel and begins a life of faith (Calvin). ‘In faith’ (‘Ace Fistin’) means ‘with greater faith’. It is a belief that grows more and more mature.
