Title: People Who Lived by Prayer
Contents Chapter 364 S.F. Adams' Hymn <To draw near to my Lord>
It's our favorite hymn.
“To draw near to my lord
Suffering like the burden of the cross
My lifelong wish is always praising
I want to go to the Lord.”
“When I try to get closer to my Lord, I suffer like a burden on the cross.”
It is said that the life of faith is not so easy. It means that there are difficult and difficult hurdles.
Chapter 487 Joseph Scriben's Hymn
In the first verses of verses 2 and 3, “Anyone who is free from all worries about exams?
Anyone who is not burdened with worries and worries?” said Yes! As in human affairs, there are difficulties in life. How difficult and difficult would it be to live such a life only with my own strength and effort?
I couldn't help but feel sad when I saw many people lining up to commit suicide after the I.M.F incident.
This is especially true when we see people in the economic and political circles commit suicide or hang themselves to death in the aftermath of political forces. - How prominent are they, such as Chung Mong-heon, president of Hyundai Group, mayor of Busan, and former president of Daewoo E&C? It takes 4-50 years to grow a single tree into timber, how much effort does it take to build a human being? It cannot be compared to wood lumber. Because they tried to solve the <difficult and difficult life problem> with their own power, in which they had no choice but to give up their lives, in the end, they felt the limit of their power and gave up their precious life only once.
They are Almighty God! Had he known and believed in the channels of help from the living God, he would not have chosen a disastrous end.
The problem is not that we have met the limit of death, but that we overcome the problem and do not know the remaining secrets.
What is the secret to overcoming the limits of life? It is praying to Almighty God. Prayer is the way. Prayer is a tunnel through life's difficulties. Prayer is the solution to life's problems. This prayer is a channel through which Almighty God hears and answers. In Matthew 7:7, Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened.” He said, “He who asks finds, and he who seeks finds, and the door opens to him who gives.” Therefore, because prayer is so important and essential, today's text <1 Thessalonians 5:17> says, “Pray constantly” and in Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but do everything through prayer and supplication to God. tell them,” he said.
‘‘Do not be anxious about anything,’ and ‘Pray constantly’ means to pray like flowing water. It is saying that if you continue to pray as water flows into the sea without ceasing, your worries will be resolved and you will receive many benefits. What are the benefits of praying?
First, it communicates with God. (Spiritual) The soul becomes healthy.
Second, you will receive power. <Hymn 197, 'If you work hard to increase your prayers, you will receive great power.> You will not receive power without making an effort to pray.
Third, get a response. Just as water turns into water vapor and rises to the sky, it comes down as rain. God's faithful and merciful God always answers prayers offered to the sky.
Yes! If you pray, you will receive answers. That is why we can overcome the tunnel of despair and setbacks in life and win. Therefore, a person who prays cannot be free from anxiety about exams, worries, shock and frustration, but he does not get caught up in it or sink. Please believe that you will be overcome through answers to prayer.
The evidence of answers to prayer is first of all confidence. The second is peace of mind. Third, history appears according to God's Kairos time. Kairos is God's time. When the “time is full” of that time, the problem will be solved and a miracle will appear. -Hallelujah- Therefore, please hold onto the rope of prayer and live. Please do not lose the line of prayer. I hope you spend your whole life as a person of prayer
The great figures in biblical history are those who lived by prayer. No one has become a great person without living through prayer.
First, so is Abraham.
Abraham appears in Genesis 12. After being called in his hometown of Ur of the Chaldeans, Abraham worshiped everywhere he went and said, “I called on the name of the Lord” (Genesis 12:8).
Prayer is calling on the name of the Lord. This is an appeal by calling on the name of the great Lord, the name of the Almighty Lord, and the name of the Lord, who is full of mercy and love, who did not spare even his only begotten Son, Jesus, for our atonement. In Acts 2:21, it is said, “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Yes! If you call on the name of the Lord, you will be saved and your prayers will be answered. Like Abraham, I bless you by calling on the name of the Lord and praying everywhere.
Second, Jacob was also a man of prayer.
Abraham as the father of faith, Isaac as the father of obedience, and Jacob as the father of prayer. That means Jacob is a man of prayer. When Jacob returns from the land of Haran with 200,000 successes in the land of Haran, he is threatened by his brother Esau. How can you resist the force of Esau with a sword that comes running with 400 men? There was no solution, no way. So he spends one night praying on the banks of the Jabbok River. It was a prayer that risked his life, a prayer with all his might, like a wrestling. As the sun broke, the sacrum bone became the upper bone. But that night's prayer made history. Esau's heart, who had been running with a sword for revenge, changed like a sheep. Jacob's one night's desperate prayer did just that. God always answers our prayers.
This happened when Professor Dae-Seop Lee, who was a professor at Seoul Theological University, was studying in the United States. One night, outside the apartment door, someone screamed to open the door and kicked it. So I looked out through the crack in the door, and saw a dreadful-looking bully screaming with a gun in one hand.
For a moment, I was terrified and trembling. There was no way, so I knelt down and prayed earnestly to God.
After praying for a while, it was quiet outside, so I looked out carefully through the cracks in the door to see the bully lying on the floor with a gun. When I prayed, a miracle happened.
Third, David was a man who lived by prayer.
His psalms are dotted with David's prayers. His life was a life of turmoil and trials. The dire situation, the unbearable ordeal, at that time, he cried. Perhaps without prayer to God, the great David could not have been.
David said the result of prayer: “I cried out, and the Lord answered.”
God hears and answers prayer. please believe
The Bible records that many people lived by prayer. Moses did, and Elijah did. Daniel fasted for 21 days and prayed, and he is famous for praying without skipping three times: morning, lunch, and evening. He is a man of prayer. He was thrown into the lion's den, but the lion could not swallow him.
Jesus taught by saying, “Pray like this,” and set the example of prayer. According to his custom, every evening at sunset, he crossed the Kidron Valley and went to the Garden of Gethsemane and prayed.
The apostles who imitated Jesus appear as people of prayer in the latter days. The book of Acts shows the field of life lived through the prayers of the apostles. In Acts 3:1: Peter and John, it is said that they were going up to the temple at 3 o'clock in the afternoon for prayer. There the lame begging was raised up in the name of the Lord.
It can be seen that there was a regular daily prayer.
Everyone! I bless you to become a person who lives by prayer
There was a boy named William Kerry. He was a shoemaker. William Kerry, who lived without dreams and hopes, believed in Jesus and changed his view of life and values. Changed into a dreamer. He put a world map and three slogans on a piece of paper in front of his seat in a shoe repair shop, and began his life anew day by day with a prayer, engraving it in his heart.
- Have a big vision ( Great Vision )
- Pray a great prayer ( Great Pray )
- Great Expectation/
You might think that if someone who does repairs at someone else's shoe repair shop dreams of opening up a repair shop, you might think that <William Kerry> had a completely different dream. He put a world map in his arms and volunteered to go on a mission when no one was thinking of going abroad on a mission at the time. Everyone around me laughed. There were no sponsors. Even his married wife was against it. But nevertheless he ran into India.
He is <William Kerry>, the father of missions, and the person who became the originator of missions. Who expected that to happen? No one was there, but his dream came true.
It is prayer that makes dreams come true. When you pray with a dream, prayer is what makes that dream come true. This is because God hears and answers the prayer that you pray with a dream.
During the Civil War, the battle that American General Washington struggled the most was the battle in the village of Valley Forge in Philadelphia. The soldiers were exhausted from the cold and hunger. Few believed that Washington would win the battle. However, Washington's secretary, Lewis, was sure of a 'win'.
“The general opened the Bible and prayed four times a day. His face was so peaceful when he came out of the prayer. In battle, the one who keeps his composure until the end is the way to win.” <Lewis> That's what he said.
However, as predicted by his secretary <Lewis>, Washington won a great victory. In <Valley Forge>, the Washington Memorial Church is now established. And the following prayer is engraved:
“May the leaders of the nation serve the people with humility.”
Prayer has the amazing power to turn 'desperation, sighs, and tears' into 'hope, praise, and smile'.
So, people of prayer pray because they know this secret. The benefits of your prayers are enormous. Great men in the history of the Bible or great men in the history of Christianity accomplished great works through prayer. Master of prayer <EM. Bounds> said, “Prayer makes a man, and prayer makes a pastor.”
British General Charles George Gordon never tolerated anyone who interrupted his morning meeting with God alone. A white handkerchief was hung outside his barracks for an hour each day while he was marching through Sudan. The whole unit knew the importance of that little mark, and it was sacred and respected by all, regardless of skin color or religion. No matter how urgent the message was, even if it was life-or-death, he had to wait for the hanging sign to be lifted. Everyone said that whenever they saw the small white handkerchief outside the barracks, they knew that General Gordon was with God. That white handkerchief was the secret of his saintly life, a fearless and devoted life. The secret was the closet of prayer. Like General Gordon, we believe that we should have the secret of godliness every day, a prayer closet symbolized by Gordon's white handkerchief.
Someone said this about prayer. What is prayer What is prayer?
“It is to release a soul that is tightly bound.
To make a free spirit fly.
And prayer is to open the rusty prison door and to give a brilliant light into the cave of darkness.
And prayer is to divide the deep Red Sea into a wall, and to strike high Jericho to make it flat.
Prayer is the key to heaven and the lock to the gates of hell.”
“There are 15 reasons we should pray every day.”
1. To seek the face of the Lord and to know Him better (Psalm 27:8)
2. To lift up your eyes to the Lord from the troubled streets (Psalm 121:1)
3. To speak to God (1 Peter 3:12)
4. To unburden the heart (Psalm 142:1-2)
5. To ask God (Matthew 21:22)
6. To hear the word of God (Proverbs 8:34)
7. To be freed from suffering (James 5:13)
8. To overcome temptation (Matthew 26:41)
9. To be saved from suffering (Psalm 107:19)
