Title: People who work for peace
We saw the disastrous state of war in Iraq just a moment ago, and in that phone we saw people working for peace for life. I also heard the sensitivity of peace to remember the pain of Sister Choi Soon-nim. Perhaps Jesus will call those who are dedicated to making peace in this way, children of God.
What is peace? How can we achieve this?
In the Bible, the word peace is used as ‘shalom’ in the Old Testament and ‘eirene’ in the New Testament, which are all translated into English as peace. It has also been translated into Korean, such as peace and peace. In the Old Testament, ‘shalom’ refers to the state in which our lives are generally at peace. A state in which the body, mind, and conditions of life are stable and human rights are guaranteed. The state in which pain and conflict are overcome is called shalom. Shalom is a state of peace in a world where food, sleep, and living are guaranteed, free from social tension and anxiety, and free from the threat of war, violence, tyranny, or oppression of power. In other words, social conditions in which justice is achieved and human rights are guaranteed, and a world free from war and oppression of any kind.
The nation of Israel is a nation that has truly longed for peace. They were always under pressure from foreign powers, and they lived in a world where wars never ceased, without peace and peace. The war brought poverty, the tyranny of those in power increased, and the people's livelihoods were unstable and hard. I have lived a life that is eagerly awaited by the peace of society and the nation from the peace of everyday life. Therefore, they also had a great longing for peace. To this people, the prophet Isaiah called for a world of peace.
“At that time the wolf lived with the Lamb . . . A suckling child plays by the viper's burrow, and a weaning child puts his hand into the viper's den” (Isaiah 11:6-8).
The words of this prophecy dreamed of a beautiful world of coexistence in which the strong and the extremely weak coexist in harmony, harmless and harmless, the rights of the weak are guaranteed, and each other live together. And it is said that such a world is possible only when it becomes a world filled with the Spirit of God. It is the kingdom of God in which new heavens and a new earth will be created.
The Bible says that the way to achieve this kind of peace is not in the strength of weapons or armies. In verse 3, the prophet Micah says, “The Lord will judge the strife among the nations and settle the conflicts between the great powers far and far away; every nation will strike a sword to make sickles, and nation and nation will raise their swords to each other. I will never strike again, and I will never do military training again. Everyone will sit under his vine and fig tree and live in peace. Everyone will live without any threat. This is the promise of the Lord of hosts.”
We all well know that peace achieved by force calls for greater force, and eventually all will be destroyed by force. Peace by the augmentation of force is the peace of Rome. The peace that Jesus gives is true peace that is achieved when our hearts are humbled, we are freed from greed, and we build a new order in the kingdom of God that takes care of the weak. When we humble ourselves and become servants and servants of all people, that is, when we establish the order of the kingdom of God, which is contrary to the order of the world, and give ourselves up for that work, we can achieve peace and become children of God.
Blessed are those who work for peace.
The deeper meaning of the Greek word 'Eirene' for peace in the New Testament is not to mean a peaceful state without war, pain, or conflict, but rather to overcome war, pain, and conflict, and strive to overcome war, pain, and conflict, and practice and strive with all our hearts for it. The status is called 'Eirene'.
In order to put an end to conflicts between peoples, including the Iraq war, in order to make our inter-Korean relations peaceful coexistence, solidarity with the weak, and efforts and efforts to unravel the relationship with the person next to us. If we are in the process of going through the difficulties of overcoming conflict, we are at peace and we are children of God.
Biological women may not necessarily have an instinct for peace. The experiences of women living in a relative deprivation of peace in the patriarchal structure have been nurtured with the ability to overcome the state of non-peace, and since women's daily life itself can be a struggle for peace, guidance for women to achieve more peace I do not know.
But if you are starting a work for peace, both men and women will have to go out together holding the hand of Jesus, the one who started it. Because we are children of God who work for peace.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for allowing women on the new path to have time to share ‘peace’ before the Lord.
The way the Lord showed you in your life
Let me walk with joy,
Jesus prayed for the forgiveness of sinners on the cross
clothed with the power of peace,
Let the place where we stand be a place of peace
spirit and soul struggle,
humbling oneself and striving to forsake oneself
I want to be a follower of Jesus.
We pray in the name of Jesus who pleases our hearts.
Amen.
