Title: People with Paul 5 Timothy
Contents People with Paul 5 Timothy
All the people who were next to Paul were people who shared life and death with Paul because of the gospel. There were many people around Paul. But perhaps the closest among them was Timothy.
There is evidence for that. Paul wrote 13 Pauline Epistles. However, among them, the name of Timothy appears alongside Paul at the beginning of the 6th letter. In four of them, only Paul and Timothy appear.
What does it mean?
It is proof that Paul always had Timothy by his side. It was the closest entourage.
Timothy's background
1. Family Blessing
Timothy received a family blessing. Timothy was from Lystra in the region of Lygaonia, St. Galatia.
Timothy was of mixed race. His mother was Jewish and his father was Greek. Her mother Eunice raised Timothy well by faith.
But his mother Eunice's mother, Timothy's grandmother Lois, was a man of faith. So she is a woman who has well inherited the faith to her descendants (2 Timothy 1:5).
So Timothy knew the Bible well from an early age (2 Timothy 3:15).
(2 Timothy 3:15-17)
The Bible says:
(2 Timothy 1:3-5)
It means Timothy. It means unigue. God gives rewards to children who have good victory.
When Timothy also speaks of the pulse of faith, he is referring to the pulse of his grandmother and mother. From generation to generation, faith has been passed down as a legacy.
If your parents give you a legacy of faith, God is the one who gives you a legacy of love as a bonus. Timothy inherited the faith from her grandmother and mother. Then God gave us power, love, and a sober heart.
(2 Timothy 1:7)
Timothy was born into a family of faith. Timothy was blessed with a family.
2. Blessing of meeting
Who you meet throughout your life determines that person's life. Timothy became Timothy after meeting Paul.
Paul went on a second trip. I came to Lystra. Of course I came with Sila. At that time, I met Timothy, who was living a good life of faith there. And Timothy became Paul's lifelong co-worker.
One meeting can change your life forever. Elisha's life changed when he met Elijah.
Peter's life changed when he met Jesus. Timothy had a turning point in his life when he met Paul.
3. Spiritual Blessing
Timothy was also blessed spiritually. The Bible says this when Paul met Timothy at Lystra.
(Acts 16:1)
Paul went to Lystra on his first missionary journey. It seems that the hat received Jesus at that time.
(Acts 14;6-21)
Paul speaks of Timothy as his son (1 Corinthians 4:17, 2 Corinthians 1:1), which means that he is a spiritual son. And he loved to the extreme as the true son of faith (1 Timothy 1:2). He is a spiritual son who came to know Jesus because of Paul.
It is said that Paul made many disciples at this time. And when I came back two or three years later, Timothy's faith had grown remarkably. Timothy was spiritual. Just as there is good soil that grows well if you plant a seed, Timothy was spiritual soil.
That is why Paul chose Timothy as his co-worker.
4. The blessing of doing God's work from an early age
So Paul is working with young Timothy, admonishing people not to despise Timothy. Paul once sent Timothy on an errand to the Corinthian church. So as I was writing the letter, I sent him a letter telling him not to despise Timothy.
(1 Corinthians 16:10-11)
And he is telling Timothy himself to be careful in his words and deeds so that people will not be despised because of your youth.
(1 Timothy 4:12)
In this way, Timothy became a servant of God doing God's work from an early age. This was a great blessing. It was a blessing from God to do God's work from an early age like Samuel. Timothy was such a blessing.
5. Podium Blessing
Timothy was in Rome with Paul. Rome was a city where Christians were brutally captured and executed. So I hid in the catacombs. In particular, Nero despised Christians.
At that time, Paul was preaching the gospel in Rome with Timothy. There are many evidences in the Bible that Timothy was with Paul in Rome.
(Phil 1:1)
The book of Philippians is a prison epistle written in Rome. And the book of Colossians was written from a Roman prison.
(Col 1:1-2)
So Paul and Timothy were in Rome together. But now Paul was about to be tried and executed in Rome. Paul wanted to inform the Philippians of this news by letter, so he wrote a letter. This is the book of Philippians. After thinking about who to write the letter to and whom to send, I finally thought of Timothy.
The distance from Rome to Philippi is 40 days on foot. It takes 80 days round trip. There Paul sent Timothy.
It is recorded in the Bible.
(Phil 2:19-24)
Paul says this when he introduces Timothy. It tells us that he was a fighter of the gospel who had undergone numerous trials. He is said to have worked hard for the gospel.
And there it is. Earlier, Paul had sent Timothy to the church in Ephesus.
(1 Timothy 1:1-4)
And Paul once made an important request to Timothy. While I was in prison, I wrote a letter telling me to bring my coat and a Bible because it was winter.
(2 Timothy 4:9-13)
In this way, Timothy was the servant whom Paul sent on an errand when there was a serious matter.
He was a servant who requested when there was a bad job.
He was someone who could talk when things were dangerous.
In a word, he was a man by Paul's side who could do anything.
In this way, Timothy was a servant of blessing.
