Title: Perfect Obedience/Genesis 17:1-27
Content Title: Complete Obedience
Text: Genesis 17:1-27
Key Verse: (Genesis 17:1) When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am God Almighty; walk before me and be perfect.
Our obedience becomes easy because God commands us through his revelation. Before commanding Abram to be perfect, God revealed himself as “Eshaddai” (the Almighty). We will not do that unless we are sure to learn the omnipotence of God. If only we knew his almighty power toward us who believe! It's our fault that we don't know our God, so we don't risk it.
1. Let's lie on our faces and listen to God's word.
He will speak of this circumstance so that I may be fruitful. First, by saying, “Walk before me” and “Be perfect,” He tells us that we must act with our whole heart. Can I not trust God's Word by putting my stubbornness, knowledge, and experience first? Because he is omnipotent and omnipotent, we see him speaking, including facts that we do not know or foresee today. We are human beings who have no choice but to bow down in front of Nozick with trust and the attitude of Jun-jong.
2. Our obedience must be complete.
No part of our nature is hidden from God. Every nook and cranny is within his reach, every relationship is under his direction, and each of our abilities is there for his service. All we have and all we are is his. Here, we realize the confession of the apostles, “(Romans 14:8) If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.”
3. Our intentions must be pure.
One purpose of our Lord Jesus is to glorify the Father. We too must be immersed in the glory of Christ and never be satisfied until we sacrifice our all. And when others glorify him, we should rejoice as I glorify him. The fact that the ultimate purpose of life as a human being is for the glory of God was a prerequisite for Habram to become Abraham. As the progenitor of God's chosen people, the second chapter of his life consisted of pure obedience, in which everything followed the Word of God.
4. Our obedience must be perfect.
To Abraham, this was clear. As soon as he finished his conversation with God, he circumcised Ishmael and all the males belonging to him, according to God's command. God's commands cannot be delayed. Complete obedience is only immediate and complete obedience to his commands. When hesitation holds our thoughts or actions, Satan uses this very chasm to try to block the path of perfect obedience.
