Title: Types of Churches - Philadelphia Church
Revelation 3:7-13 ‘7. Write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia: He who is holy and true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens, said:
8. Behold, I have put a door open before you, and no one can close it. I know your deeds, though you have little power, you have kept my word, and have not betrayed my name.
9. Behold, I will give you some of the synagogues of Satan, those who claim to be Jews and are not, but lie, that they may come and bow down at your feet, that they may know that I love you.
10. Because you have kept my word of patience, I will also keep you from the hour of temptation, when I come into all the world to test those who dwell on the earth. don't let it be stolen,
The Philadelphia Church was praised for being a church that was well maintained with perseverance even though Judaism was tormented. Holiness and truth are the attributes of Christ, and having the key of David is because the Jews boasted of their Davidic blood, so Christ came out with the key.
1. A church that lacks outwardly but is faithful inwardly
In verses 7 and 8, the words of the key and the door appear, which means that Christ has the authority to decide the salvation of entering the kingdom of heaven, just like the one who was in charge of the door of the temple or the house of David in the Old Testament (Eliakim, 2 Kings 18:18).
It is a poor church, but the cultural conditions did not strain their faith. It was a church that did not give in and overcame the threats of Judaism, which they called the Society of Satan. It is commendable to win over tradition and organization. The condition of the praised church is similar to the Smyrna church that came out earlier.
Revelation 3:8 “Behold, I have put a door open before you, and no one can close it. I know your deeds, though you have little power, you have kept my word, and have not betrayed my name.”
2. A church that will be helped in tribulation
The blessing of faith lies in the power of overcoming the enemy, not the true blessing of being free only physically from the tribulation and culture of the world.
Revelation 3:10 “Because you have kept the word of my patience, I will also keep you from the hour of temptation, which is to come when I come into all the world to test those who dwell on the earth.”
It is a promise that the Lord will protect the Philadelphia church, which kept His Word even when extreme hardships come.
It is also a prophecy that the Lord will be with us and give us victory when we resemble the center of the Philadelphia Church among the churches that will face the end times. The rapture theorists are misinterpreting that those who believe better will rapture in the air. The Smyrna church, which is praised together, was prophesied in 2:10 that it would suffer again.
John 17:15 “I do not ask you to take them out of the world, but to keep them from falling into evil.”
3. The Blessing of the Church to Be the Pillar of the Temple
The house is supported by pillars. Their faith is strong and it is a word of blessing that it is a church that protects the kingdom of God.
Revelation 3:12 “The one who overcomes will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will never go out again. I will record it'
Philadelphia was renamed twice after an earthquake. So, the new name of God, the new Jerusalem, and the new name of Christ being written means that those who overcome by faith become God's and receive Christ's eternal redemption. I pray that you and I will enjoy the grace of the Lord with you in the last days by following the example of the Word Church that keeps the faith of the Philadelphia Church.
