Title: Philip, Andrew, and a Child

About Philip, Andrew, and a child

Let's read verse 5 together.

Jesus went up the mountain, and when he saw a large crowd coming toward him, he asked Philip. "Philip, where can we buy bread so that these people may eat?"

There was a reason you asked this.

Let's read verse 6 together.

Jesus wanted to test Philip. Tested here means that you have tested. He wanted to see Philip's reaction. If Jesus asked you a question, how would you answer?

Philip replied: Let's read verse 7 together.

Philip seems to have been a smart man. He quickly calculated the need for 200 denarii of bread. How did Philip calculate 200 denarii? One denarius is the daily wage of an adult worker. In today's terms, that would be around $5,000. For 50,000 won, how many breads can you buy for 500 won? You can buy 100. In other words, one denarius can buy 100 loaves. There are about 20,000 people there, so 20,000 loaves of bread are needed. How many denarii is needed for 20,000? 100 is 1 denarius, so 20,000 is 200 denarii.

Yes. There are many smart people among you, right? Philip was also a very smart man. So he quickly did the math. But, what is the conclusion of his words? Let's read verse 7 again.

Is his conclusion positive? is it negative? His conclusion was negative. Philip quickly calculated that it cost 200 denarii, but he did not have this money. 200 denarii is 10 million won in today's terms. His conclusion was that he had no money, so he could not feed the herd. At this time, Andre suddenly appeared. Let's read verses 8 and 9 together.

Andre was probably out of his mind, so he figured out what he could do first, rather than do the math. When he saw a child having lunch, he brought the child to Jesus. Andrew did the math and couldn't do it, so it was better than Philip, who didn't even move. Because he still found what he could do. However, his conclusion was also negative. "But how much will it cost to all these people?"

We have these two kinds of people. When you come to the conclusion that you can't calculate based on your own experience and thoughts and re-report the standards, there are people who do nothing, even though they have no brain, they go around looking for what they can do. He is a quick-acting person. Without thinking much, we take action first. However, he also runs into his own limitations and despairs. These two have something in common. The thing is that they get stuck in situations and their own limitations and draw negative conclusions. Also, they do not know how powerful Jesus is.

Yesterday, the teachers invited our friends to a friend invitation party in front of Changseo Elementary School. Then a pretty boy friend of mine appeared. She had a very good brain. A friend of mine explained how much it would cost to travel to church because he lived far away. How much is it in a day and how much is it in a month? In the end, that friend cannot come to our church. Hearing this, the evangelist was sad. Of course, the pretty friend talked about it without much thought. It must have been that he wanted to talk to the evangelist. However, if you ever have the thought that you can't do it, that's a big deal. We don't want to hear the answer that Jesus can't do it. It is difficult, but Lord! The Lord can do it. Please help. wants to hear you say.

Let's think about a child now. The Bible does not say who the child is, what his name is, where he lives, whether he is male or female. However, one thing is clear: the boy gave his lunch to Jesus. What would have happened if this child had not given his lunch to Jesus? Yes, the five-year-old miracle would not have happened. This child gave his lunch to Jesus. The child seems to have believed what Jesus could do with that lunch. This child was a better child than Philip and Andrew. Jesus must have known the heart of this child. After receiving this wonderful child's lunch, the Lord looked up at the sky and said a prayer of thanks. Then he ordered his disciples to distribute the bread. The disciples broke the loaves and distributed them just as Jesus had commanded them to, but even if they broke the loaves and broke them, they were still there. In that way, 20,000 people ate all and harvested 12 kwangjuri.

The small dedication of one child has fed 20,000 people.

Dear boys and girls! Rather than people like Andrew and Philip, the Lord wants someone like the child who gave him his lunch. Even if Andrew sees himself as insignificant, let us give it to the Lord. The Lord will lift it up, look up to heaven, give thanks, and use it for His wonderful works.
