Title: Please God/Leviticus 22:1-33

Contents Hymn of the Week: Chapter 213: August 12, 1995

Subject: To please God Youngjin Church Dawn

Main text: Leviticus 22:1-33 22.hwp

Regulations on holy things (Leviticus 22:1-16)

The object offered to God must be holy. Because Hananib is holy.

1. Words spoken to the unclean. An unclean person here refers to a person with a physical disease, such as leprosy or a leaky disease. Not only that, but anyone who touches a corpse or touches an unclean thing on the body also falls under this category. We cannot stand before God. But we are thankful that our unclean deeds have been washed clean by the blood of Jesus.

2. What was the purpose of these ordinances? This is so that the priests can defend themselves. in order to be able to protect themselves. Protecting yourself is truly precious. There are many things we fight against, but if we fight ourselves and win, this is the greatest victory. God appeared in the flames of Mount Horeb and said to Moses, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” To come before God, we must wash our feet, our hands, and our body. But above all else, you have to wash your mind.

3. We must keep the ordinances God has given us. In the text, God tells us that if we keep this command, we will live and if we disobey the command, we will die. Adam, who disobeyed the command, was expelled from Edem, and Samson and Saul, who disobeyed the command, were put to death. We must glorify God by keeping the ordinances on holy things.

please God

When the people of Israel offered sacrifices to God, they offered something that was not perfect and had blemishes.

The prophet Isaiah referred to this as “a sacrifice in vain,” and rebuked him not to offer these things to God and not only tread on God's courts. It was an act of blasphemy to offer such a sacrifice to God. With what will we please God?

1. It is sacrifice that pleases God. Sacrifice, in other words, is worship. God's interest is in worship. The reason God did not accept Cain's sacrifice but accepted Abel's was because Abel truly offered a sacrifice without blemish. Believers must offer proper worship in order to please God.

2. Offering that is without blemish. God does not accept faulty things. However, ignorant and hardened human beings gave faulty things to God. This is an act of contempt for God. How could a creature be like this to Almighty God? It is an act of deceiving God to say, “I give freely of everything that I have” while giving away what is left after spending a lot of money when giving to God.

3. To obey his commands. The Bible teaches that obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22). Peter, who had been fooling around all night, obeyed Jesus and cast his net into the deep, where they caught a lot of fish. When you receive God's commands, saying "yes" and obeying them is what pleases God and is the secret to receiving God's blessings.
