Title: Poems and Rains/Mark 14:1-9
Content * Poetry and Rain
Mark 14:1-9
People complain about what they see. Today's text is also an incident where a woman named Mary poured an alabaster jar of perfume on Jesus, who was to be executed.
Perfume oil was worth 300 denarii. Considering that the daily wage at that time was 1 denarius, this is the equivalent of one year's annual salary. So, when one of the disciples argued that it was better for you to help the poor with it, Jesus rebuked the disciple and praised Mary.
Through this incident, we will learn how to do what is poetry and what to do is not.
1. Don't look at it negatively, look at it positively
In today's text verse 8, we see that the disciples were arguing like this because they viewed this incident negatively. If you look at anything negatively, the world becomes an object of contention. Seeing negatively is nonsense, and seeing positively is poetry.
Everyone, get into the habit of looking at things in a positive way rather than looking at them negatively.
God viewed Job positively and Satan viewed him negatively (Job 1:8-11)
The disciples viewed negatively and Jesus viewed the man who was born blind (John 9:1-3)
People who see the same thing negatively are more stressed, so try to see everything positively.
Seeing something is a habit, so if you try, you can fix it. In order to do that, you need to know how you see yourself, and you need to look at whether you're looking too negative and biased.
If you look at everything in this world positively, the world looks bright and beautiful, but if you look at it negatively, your work becomes annoying and inefficient. Let's say you stumbled over a stone while walking down the street. A person who sees this and thinks positively about the world will say, "Hey, I'm glad. I only hurt my knee a little..." But a person who sees the world negatively will say, "This stone hurt my knee!" You will kick the stone once. If you kick the stone one more time, your feet will only hurt more.
Depending on how each person views life, happiness and achievement are different even under the same conditions.
An optimistic person always sees things as positive and hopeful, whereas a pessimistic person always sees things negatively. The outcome of your work depends on how you view it.
So, from now on, look at everything in a positive way. Yeah.........
2. Don't just ask for understanding, but also think about people's hearts.
Looking at verse 9 of today's text, the disciples do not look at the devotion, faith, and love of this Mary's heart, but only count the amount of money.
It is nonsense to only seek understanding, and poetry is to consider people's hearts and beliefs as well.
Guys, our life is not just about money. How you feel is important. The heart is what matters.
Jesus knew how to see people's hearts and how to think. He understood the feelings of the Suga-seong woman. (John 4:)
▶ Lessons from Nabal who broke David’s heart and Abigail who made David’s heart happy (1 Samuel 25:3-38)
Proverbs 15:13 The joy of the heart makes the face bright, but the sorrow of the heart bruises the soul.
Proverbs 17:22 A happy heart is good medicine, but a troubled spirit dries up the bones.
When something happens, don't put too much emphasis on understanding, and think about the broken heart of the person who suffered.
Therefore, it is better to make the heart happy and at ease, even at the cost of a little loss.
▶ Chu Yau-jung (秋夜雨中) by Choi Chi-won (崔致遠), a literary writer of the Unified Silla period
秋 唯苦吟 (Chupung Yugoeum) The autumn wind mourns in pain,
There is no one in the world who knows.
窓外三更雨 (Three cases outside the window) Outside the window, it rains all night long,
燈前萬里心 (Thousand miles of heart) In front of the lamp, the heart goes out thousands of miles.
People miss you so much. I want you to know your heart.
You must become a person who understands the heart of such a person, not just for understanding.
There is an old saying, 交莫貴乎相知 交莫貴乎相知. There is nothing nobler in making friends than knowing each other's hearts. The most important thing is to understand each other well.
Be a person who knows your heart.
3. Don't criticize, praise and encourage
In today's text, we see that the disciples, Judas Iscariot, criticize and criticize Mary.
The reason God calls believers is to comfort and encourage them. In verses 8-9, there is a scene where Jesus' disciple criticizes Mary. In John 12, he is called Judas Iscariot.
When he saw Mary's dedication, he criticized her for not helping the poor. A lot of people are talking about good things like justice, relief, and charity. That's a really good thing. But they don't actually do it themselves.
To criticize and criticize is nonsense, and to praise and encourage is poetry.
Rebuke and criticism are not for the disciples. What Jesus wants is encouragement, comfort, and praise. The book of Isaiah consists of 66 chapters, and the first 39 chapters declare the sin of disobedience and judgment. However, after chapter 40, we see God's comfort and salvation being proclaimed.
After chapter 40, you can write about the thorough judgment of their sins and their justification, but God is proclaiming a wonderful word of comfort. 40:1 says, “Comfort ye, comfort my people, saith your God.”
God did not tell us to heal the world. Instead, he told me to comfort him. That should be our mission. Rebuke does not save people, but encouragement saves people.
See the light in light and shadow and praise the evidence. Follow the praise of Jesus among Judas Iscariot and Jesus.
▶ Instead of criticizing the sinner Zacchaeus, Jesus stayed in his house. He did not condemn the woman caught in adultery.
Matthew 7:1-5 Judge not, lest you be judged, for with the judgment with which you judge you will be judged, and with the measure that you measure, it will be measured to you. Do you not understand the log that is in your eye? Look, there is a log in your eye. Why do you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye? I will take the tea out of the snow
James 4:11-12 Brethren, do not slander one another. Anyone who slanders a brother or judges a brother blasphemes the law and judges the law. If you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you that you judge your neighbor?
1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the coming of the Lord, for he will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will reveal the will of the heart, and at that time each will receive praise from God.
▶ I saw on YTN that lawmakers oppose, criticize, and only attack, so they made a program that praised their fellow lawmakers.
Mark Twain said, "If you get a nice compliment, you can live for two months on just eating it." That's right. Now most people aren't hungry because they can't eat
I am thirsty for encouragement, praise, and positive words. Avoid negative comments and use positive ones. Words of Complaining and Complaining Let's stop saying hurtful words, and let's say good words, words of praise, words of encouragement.
4. Do not try to understand, but by faith
The disciples in the text tried to understand, and the woman saw what she was trying to do by faith.
Trying to understand everything with your head is not, and doing it with faith is poetry.
Judas Iscariot had a lot of thoughts and worries a lot about things, but instead, Mary had little trouble and was strong in action.
Just do it and it will happen. But the reason we can't do that is because we think too much and analyze too much.
If we can believe in Jesus only if we understand everything, then none of us will believe in Jesus. Mary also loved Jesus, so she went to the place of devotion.
The most difficult thing in the world is practice. But if you love it, the practice is easy. Why is the life of faith difficult? Why is service and dedication so hard? Because there is no love for God.
Mary did not intend to do great things, but because she loved and did great things. Mary's actions were just pouring perfume on her because she loved Jesus so much. Therefore, be faithful to the Word every moment. You will do great things. Greatness is simplicity without packaging. Simple obedience is the beginning of great devotion.
Maria was a great woman with a youthful spirit. If you have love, respond. I hope that obedience to spiritual stimulation at every moment will be your life.
▶ Even Abraham did not try to understand and see what he just did by faith.
Romans 4:18 Abraham hoped and believed in hope, so that he might become the father of many nations, as it was said, So shall your descendants be.
James 2:21 Was not our father Abraham justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar?
▣ In the second half of today's text, it is said that this event should be preached and celebrated.
The bad is contagious and the good is contagious. Do a lot of good things and spread it.
There is a person called “Renegirard” “Theory of Similar Desires”. It is said that the cause of all cravings is imitation. It speaks of the contagiousness of desire. Because of her devotion to Jesus, Mary won millions of people to follow him.
In Acts 24:5, Tertullo, a Christian persecutor, said that those who believe in Jesus are sick and are a troublemaker. Paradoxically, his words most accurately describe Christianity. Live so that your existence changes the world around you. That is true missionary work. When I become a real Christian, the world around me changes. That is the gospel.
